I follow Technsports for a few years. His peak earnings were 2020 -2022 when much of retail was shut down except Florida where he is located. He has liquidated much of his eBay business and moved into education, real estate, and wholesale.

I have used his method. It works. Most of that business has gone to online live selling. You can start a business with zero dollars. The peak time was during the pandemic. With inflation, it would probably still work.

@MPelletierCIO Where do you see the online live selling happening mostly? Which platforms, and is it individuals selling used or do you see brands doing it?

Profilbild von Michelle McKay
Michelle McKayvor 1 Monat

@MPelletierCIO Whatnot has been a rising star. I believe they will be doing a IPO soon. eBay is the largest because it sales everything. Poshmark is second. Then Whatnot.

Profilbild von Michelle McKay
Michelle McKayvor 1 Monat

@MPelletierCIO Boomers in Florida do it for a supplemental income. They are allowed to make so much money per year before they are taxed on their income through social security. Brands do some of it to get rid of their excess inventory. It is still a small portion of their business.

For people that didn't watch the video, the guy makes his money wholesale. He (or his team) does the thrifting, they wash the clothes, price it out, then sell it to businesses who then go on to sell it on ebay, etc. He's the middleman between thrift and the third party seller.

Selling $17,808 a day worth of used clothes 365 days a year, sounds like bullshit to me.

Start scalping pre owned clothing that’s meant for the less fortunate. The American dream.

He’s buying stolen goods and selling them on eBay? Oh wow.

When eBay first started in the 1990s, I was a Power Seller on the site. It was so easy to make money. Thrift stores, garage sales, etc. were filled with discount stuff. Bought a book for five cents, sold it for $27 in two days. But now, those sources have been picked clean.

When I was a Nashville business reporter, I knew a guy who would cruise rich Nashville neighborhoods and inspect large garbage items on the curb. If it could resell, he would haul it off. He made a lot of money b/c the rich throw away a lot of stuff.

I dislike this because it makes it hard to find deals. All market inefficiencies get squished.

Some of those numbers he's throwing out on the individual clothing pieces are not grounded in reality; there's no way those items sell for what he claims.

He’s also in south Florida where excess wealth is highly flaunted and forgotten. If you try flea markets in middle America, you sure ain’t gonna find Hermes, Burberry so easily.

This is great. In '97/98 I was #1 seller of Beanie Babies on eBay. It was wild. This guy's business is more sustainable, though. Mine was based on a fad.

I think one of the most eye opening things is the true cost of clothes . Not the value but the real front end cost. Now when I got to a mall . I’m literally blown away by 100$ shirts 40 boxers . It’s almost like ppl love to be scammed. But s/o to dude . Respect
