I have the exact same problems you have I also did not like how Vegeta didn't get SSJ4 and didn't like that there was no fusion I enjoyed the series overall, but the ending was very underwhelming

Agreed! At the end of the day, thank you, Toriyama, for Daima. This was his last project, and it felt like the most heartfelt love letter and homage to all of Dragon Ball. It took a bit of every Dragon Ball series to create something truly beautiful. Thank you, Toriyama.

This EXACTLY sums up my feelings about the way they finished it, BUT did we really expect this to all occur in the same timeline? Sure they showed off the Kai’s from the other’s universes and stuff but honestly I had this fear that yes this is just a 3rd timeline AFTER buu

daimas gotta be a separate continuity at this point... not only does goku imply he has ssj4, but they also imply dende will tell the namekians to go back to the demon realm, which would contradict the manga arc

Feel like this covers a lot of media in general but yeah I agree with the sentiment of I don’t like getting told by the creators that I’m wrong for caring.

the only way i can maintain my sanity is by just assuming daima is completely disconnected from super and is meant to be a sort of GT but made by toriyama so the contradictions in super dont happen

You make good points. Yes, they reference dragon ball super characters, but I still think Daima is meant to be a separate continuity from super. They could build off it down the line, but no effort was made to lead into BOG, so I just think it’s separate

I loved loved LOVED, daima.. and while the ending looked amazing visually, that ending was kinda anti-climatic, left plot holes, and just left so much to be desired for me personally

Daima and Super are separate continuities. Arguing against that is just silly. Gowasu being in Daima just opens the door for daima characters and ideas to show up in the DBZ super timeline which imo is the best case scenario. Having ssj4 be location locked is lame af

I liked the ending. I didnt love it. In some ways it felt like they shot themselves in the foot for no reason lmao But hey, what do I know about storytelling and worldbuilding

Vegeta not going Ssj3 against Beerus I could get behind. After all the form isn't really his cup of tea with the large energy consumption it has plus he found out that Goku as a Super Saiyan 3 got blitzed by Beerus. Still a bummer for no explanation but I'm fine with that idea.

Yeah, they literally only needed 2 minutes max to explain away a few things. I don't think Goku had tapped into SSJ4 before, but just that he had a feeling it was something he could achieve, but didn't know how(the catalyst probably being a tail or Neva's magic cheat code).

I thought that SSJ4 was tied to Neva’s magic and would fizzle out towards the end of the fight, leading to it being lost from then on. Just one simple “on damn I ran out of that plot magic” or something would fix the whole issue unless they explain it in a season 2 (prob not tho)

I think you can spin it that it was still soon enough after the first time that adult Goku could still go SSJ4. He called it a "bonus". I also think it'd be funny if they just retconned SSJ4 and "Ultra Vegeta 1" into BoG. Even funnier if they rerelease the film just to do that

imo daima is a show for everyone, OG dragonball fans DBZ fans and super fans its gives each of those fanbases food and I think it was done really well

Also @SeeReax, with ssj3 vegeta in Battle of God's it was said that vegeta surpassed goku's ssj3 in that moment. Which shows that though vegeta decided not to use ssj3 and to build up his ssj2 because it's the better form when it comes to stamina.

I was also a little confused to because his explanation to vegeta made it sound like he tried to achieve it on his own after the buu fight but couldn't access it fully until Neva gave him the jolt

I do think the Vegeta not using SSJ3 can at least be headcanon'd using what the series says elsewhere. It uses a massive amount of ki/lifeforce to use, so it's only suitable for short fights, and Vegeta knows against a God with limitless energy, he needs to last longer.

Genuinely believe that a lot of the issues presented here (beyond the confusion of retcons) could be remedied if we knew a season 2/movie/whatever was coming further down the line so we could explore all these concepts further

Its so annoying cus its just so easy. Tie SSJ4 in with the boost Neva gave - Done, cant do it without him Vegeta could just say "Ultra Vegeta 1 sucks, takes too much ki, ima master SSJ2 instead - Done Why do the creators just hate the fans that care about continuity?

I really loved the series and the ending, but as you said, I would have liked to have seen those two lines of dialogue for the forms. Instead, they leave it up to the air, and if we get those forms again, we'll get those dialogues then...

It's literally this image and tbh it was really fun my brain always goes ugabuga when I see SSJ3 in action But the writing is still horrible like somehow 10x worse than dbs

Hey Seereax. The anime version is more ambigious about the whole super saiyan 3 thing. DBS manga flat out says there are nothing above SSJ 3. In the anime ver of BOG, it's worded very weird, so it can be interpretted in multiple ways.
