Gen Z doesn't drink and older millennials moved away

Grab it before it's gone:

That is a no mans land at the end of Lower Haight but up from Hayes Valley. Head towards Divisidero and you'll see some great new restaurants and a few bars like Danny Coyles, Woods, Toronado, and Molotovs. Feels like its trying to fit a narrative that SF is dead.

I walked by the bars you mentioned yesterday around 11:00 p.m. and they were completely dead, including Molotovs and Nickie's. I'm not trying to create a narrative. I'm just walking down the same blocks that I used to walk back in the glory days and make a comparison.

When were they packed ? Reminds me of 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica When I was younger it was packed .. now empty Same with sunset blvd ..

Hmm :/ I assume that most folks cannot afford a lavish social life coupled with an atrocious rent/mortgage.

I lived in the lower haight 30 years ago. The lower haight was always like this. There is a point in the night where it is a ghost town. This is a made fake attempt to get clicks by creating a problem where there isn't one.

Incorrect. I partied in that area 2-3 times a week on weekdays between about 2000 and 2005. The area wasn't pretty, but it surely was way, way busier. People were spilling out of all the bars till 2-3 am and then the adjacent pizza joints had dozens of people hanging out.

💯 true SF used to be packed - Silicon Valley people, east bay, locals all having a good time. Learned to order two drinks at a time because we would never get the bartenders attention again 🍻 SF is quiet af now

Oh, I remember this very well now about bartenders being way too busy and a real struggle to get to the bar. Now the bars are empty almost everywhere You go. For Better or for worse.

SF is dead because people still do not feel "safe" in the evening - to walk or take public transportation. Also if you drive limited expensive parking availability. We will drive to Marin where there is parking and it feels safer.
