🎬 Mad Money

@currentiyke Mad Money

@currentiyke Who noticed she didn't tuck the cash properly? But she wasn't caught

Movie Recap: Mad Money (2008) is a lighthearted crime comedy directed by Callie Khouri, starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes.The story opens with the three women being interrogated after their scheme unravels. It then flashes back three years: Bridget Cardigan (Keaton), a formerly affluent suburban housewife, faces financial ruin when her husband Don (Ted Danson) loses his high-paying job, leaving them deeply in debt with no savings or health insurance. Desperate, Bridget takes a low-level janitorial position at the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank, suggested by her former housekeeper.There, she discovers that worn-out, damaged currency—destined for destruction—is handled with surprisingly lax security in certain stages. Spotting an exploitable loophole, Bridget recruits two coworkers: Nina Brewster (Queen Latifah), a responsible single mother working the shredder, and Jackie Truman (Katie Holmes), a quirky, carefree cart-pusher. The trio devises a clever plan to smuggle out bundles of soon-to-be-shredded bills (hidden in clothing and other means), rationalizing it as "recycling" money that would otherwise be destroyed.Initially successful, their small thefts snowball into larger hauls as greed takes over. They enjoy the windfall—paying bills, improving lives, and indulging—while evading suspicion. However, as the operation grows bolder and involves more people (including Jackie's husband and a security guard), cracks appear. Heightened scrutiny from bank officials eventually leads to their downfall, proving that luck and overconfidence in crime eventually run out.The film blends heist antics, female camaraderie, and social commentary on economic pressure, though critics noted its implausible plot and uneven tone
