Hell yeah Like sure fan service exists for Lucy but the show ultimately never undercuts her accomplishments against all odds for herself and others They focus on her feelings for triumph, her sadness, her self doubt and the conviction/passionate that goes into her actions

shounen bros love to call female characters with depth useless and fan service characters and then attribute imaginary complexity to female leads who only exist to be love interest waifus

It’s possible for a character to have lots of fanservice and to be a really good character that is much more than that at the exact same time. Anyone just limiting them to fanservice moments and not acknowledging their very good deeds sadly don’t get what they’re talking about.

She had just as much depth if not moreso than the other female lead characters in the show she just wasn't as powerful. It's like they use powerscaling to decide if a character is fanservice slop or not.

Nah bro Fairytale is one of the good anime that gives a kick about its story and characters.
