it is peculiar, does anyone know what causes this? It looks like it could be the gases in the upper atmosphere of earth warping the light? Or an artifact of the camera?

Its not a rock. Its kind of alive, the government, education and NASA lied.

This is so easy to fake using After Effects. What gives it away is that it’s a perfectly straight line, independent of the shape of the moon, atmospheric distortion, lens distortion, etc.
