I still remember the taste of the Cola and I'm sure it was the same as RC Cola.

it was also about the only thing in the entire school day a child actually chose. the seat, the subject, the order, the timing, all assigned. the box was theirs. that is a small amount of ownership, but it is not nothing, and children notice exactly where that line sits.

@90stalgic if you want to ruin an afternoon, count the real choices in a kid's school day — not which worksheet first, actual ones. lunch is usually most of the list.

These things were the ultimate psyop. They all sucked but every kid wanted them for some reason. Cold pizza on a cracker with unmelted shredded cheese? Shitty, cold Vienna sausage hot dogs with a weird super processed bun?

As mentioned already, the cola. HAD to be RC cola. It was my favorite.

I got hype as fuck whenever i got one of these for lunch at school and then i got violently, violently ill one night and projectile vomited and i can still see those damned hot dogs

The ad is funny because it's a lose lose situation. The Dad has horrid taste in food (just because an Egg Salad/Sardine Smoothie is healthy doesn't mean it's appetizing!), while The Kid has no taste in food whatsoever and falls HLS for the yucky crap in cool 'quality' packaging.

These commercials had us begging our moms for Lunchables at the grocery store. My mom rarely ever got them for us, for good reason.

It was great until your mom beat your ass for playing basket ball in the house with a colander on top of the fridge.

I tried a pizza one a year ago for the first time since 4th grade and it was disgusting. Threw it away after one bite. Either they changed the ingredients or I changed. Probably both.
