M20 update: Dashcam video shows why a tractor pulling a trailer crashed through a bridge on the A20 at WROTHAM and fell on the M20 yesterday around 11.17am yesterday, seriously injuring the driver. The trailer became unbalanced as it went around a roundabout. Video: Sami Khamis.

Looks like he was going too fast. I know this junction well & the road he was on to the roundabout is a steep hill. Maybe he was going too fast because his brakes adequate or he had a medical emergency. Either that or he was irresponsible

Wasn’t it report this was an incident with the HGV? Which it seems it wasn’t it was poor driving. Not wishing ill on the driver but hope they get well soon to then be able to face charges of careless and dangerous driving.

Why did the tractor continue. Could have been even worse with busy motorway underneath. Horrific for the tractor driver, hope he makes a full and speedy recovery

When the trailer turned over, it apparently pulled the tractor off course, through the bridge railings, and the driver didn’t have enough time to stop.

The trailer didn't become unbalanced all by itself. If the load shifted then trailer had been badly loaded. Load could have been loaded in an unsuitable way, possibly added to by an excessive speed for the way it had been loaded.

I understand that these farm tractor & HGV trailer combinations are very unstable

Some modern tractors can do 40 mph and can be driven on a car licence by a 17 year old not on a hgv licence

Any ideas of how many people were impacted by the actions or inaction of a single tractor driver? Do barriers on roads above other highways need to be upgraded to retain the vehicles on the upper level?

This forced everyone off the M20 on Monday. Plus ‘smart’ motorways advise lane closure yet fail to identify the lane to allow for preparation, anything but smart. Most prepare in advance for junctions yet too many feel it’s ok to cut in forcing others to brake causing delays

Looks to me as if the trailer was loaded top heavy , doesn’t look fast enough to turn over, whoever was responsible for loading it, also could’ve been poor suspension
