This is highly useful. It definitely needs that spring tension. I would consider a straight type spring as opposed to a coil spring. It would be easier to fit it in without any modifications.

That’s a delightfully simple and elegant solution, I think a light spring would be a good idea if it’s feasible, or expand the mounting bit to catch on something and use the arm itself as the spring.
