Mac mini M4 + 1 dock = a workstation Apple left half-built. Base spec: 1 fast chip, cramped ports, 1 storage tier with a ceiling. Add the dock: 40Gbps NVMe storage. Dual 4K HDMI. A full row of USB ports instead of 1 lonely strip. Do the math. 40Gbps...

This is the smartest way to bypass Apple's ridiculous storage and port markups. Get the cheap M4 processing power, add a solid Thunderbolt dock, and you’ve got a high-end workstation for a fraction of the price.

Thanks! Exactly, base M4 + good dock = full workstation without Apple’s crazy markups.

What is the link for this mac mini dock?

It’s the Acasis 40Gbps Mac mini M4 dock

The M4 mini's real bottleneck was always the port count, not the chip — funny how Apple keeps selling the fast part and letting third parties fix the part people actually complain about.

Apple really designs their machines to be dongle city for no reason. 5Gbps is a game changer for the workflow though.

Apple sells the house, the dock installs the plumbing.

With such a build, it will handle even the heaviest programs.

Thanks man! Yeah exactly, with the dock and that fast NVMe it flies even with heavy stuff like 8K timelines or big 3D scenes. Glad you like the build

Honestly, this dock just makes the Mac mini make sense. Base model is powerful but so limited on ports and expandability — one good dock and it suddenly becomes a proper workstation. Apple sold the chip, the dock finishes the job

Thanks, dude! Exactly, the base Mac mini packs serious power, but those ports hold it back hard. One solid dock and it finally feels complete. Happy it clicked for you!

Nice dock, really saves the Mini. Ports and storage were limited, now it feels like a proper workstation.

Yes, the dock really does save the Mini. Ports and storage were the weak spots, and now it finally feels like a real workstation. Glad you liked the video!

40Gbps sounds huge until you put it next to unified memory. M4 does ~120GB/s internally, the dock's NVMe does 5GB/s. Perfect for storage and displays. But if the goal is running models locally, RAM is still the only spec that decides what loads.

Fair point. The dock is solid for storage and extra displays, but you're right: for local models, the unified memory size is what actually matters. Base M4 starts at 16GB, so most people still need the upgrade if they're running bigger stuff.

Yeah, the ports on the Mini are really limited. With a solid dock it turns into a proper workstation right away.

Yeah exactly, the ports are the weak spot on the base Mini. Once you add a solid dock it stops feeling incomplete and turns into a real desk setup.

THIS $290 MAGNETIC SSD IS ALSO A 5-IN-1 HUB WITH HDMI 2.1 AND A 10,000 RPM FAN. IT SNAPS TO YOUR PHONE LIKE A POWER BANK, THEN TURNS IT INTO A POCKET WORKSTATION. that transparent slab is the SHARGE Disk Pro. it is storage, cooling, ports and power passthrough inside a credit-card-sized frame. what is hiding behind the clear shell: 1TB, 2TB or 4TB of built-in TLC storage up to 10Gbps transfer speed HDMI with 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 30Hz output one 10Gbps USB 3.0 port one USB 2.0 port for a keyboard, mouse or another accessory USB-C power input up to 100W, with up to 80W delivered through the integrated cable a magnetic back that keeps the whole setup attached to your phone the tiny fan automatically spins between 7,000 and 10,000 rpm. turbo mode locks it at 10,000 rpm when long transfers start producing heat. there is even a physical switch that turns the storage off while leaving the hub available. connect it to a phone and you can record video straight to external storage, move camera files, attach a monitor and keep charging from one device. connect it to a handheld or laptop and the same slab becomes the drive and the dock. the honest line: $289.90 buys the 1TB version, and the 10Gbps interface tops out around 1GB/s in ideal conditions. this is not the fastest or cheapest way to buy a terabyte. it is the cleanest way to carry an SSD, hub, display output, charging passthrough and active cooling as one magnetic object. bookmark & watch today ↓
