Bower: I think it just underscores that when you’re in a high-profile, pressure-cooker environment, of course defense counsel is going to seize on these kinds of public statements—which made it so surprising to me that she was on the record speaking to a reporter about an ongoing case. So again, I think the fact that this motion was filed speaks to how unusual it is and why it seems, at best, misguided for her to have reached out to a reporter about an ongoing case.

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe in new interview on self-driving: "Tesla's got a huge fleet. So our approach is we have to catch up with them and compete. And so we're going to have more cameras with better dynamic range. We're going to supplement that with LiDAR that provides better safety for edge case conditions and allows us to train the vision models faster. And the incremental cost to do that is relatively small. And in fact any of the incremental costs that would have been there on its own is offset by the fact that we brought inference in house and reduced the cost of our inference platform so dramatically from what we have in your car. Your car uses an Nvidia inference platform. I say all this because in like the infinite long-term you know, you could make the case that once the models are very very robust you could have less cameras or you may be able to get away with less radar. It's not clear yet if that's the case for covering all these corner cases."

Because what had happened was that on November 24, the Department of Justice had filed a criminal indictment against them. Simultaneously, the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) had also filed a parallel civil proceeding against them. Now, from what we are given to understand, two things are going to happen. The civil proceedings filed by the SEC are going to be settled by way of a fine, they say, approximately $18 million. So once that is done, and once that is paid, it will have to go to the US federal court in New York, and they will also have to accept the settlement, and once that is done, this part will become final. Parallel to that was the original indictment, the criminal indictment by the DOJ. The DOJ is also likely to drop the criminal case. Once that happens, what it basically means is that as far as America is concerned, Gautam Adani has no case pending against him. He has a clean slate. He's free to do business as usual and also free to travel all across the world, which, to some extent, he had curtailed. So obviously, for the Adani group, it means a lot. It's a huge financial impetus. The chairman is able to go where he wants. The confidence in the group comes back..."
