MacFarlane: They didn't build this Independence because they're boy scouts. They built this Independence because it helps them have leverage with juries and judges, and to be viewed as fair arbiters in courtrooms. That's what erodes when they become political actors, whether they intend to be or not.

Rogin: I think the clearest symbol was when Speaker Johnson canceled the September session of congress. That's according to my sources, because they know they have to be in their district because they're in trouble.

Watters: You have a political leader just not doing his job. They have contained 0% of this fire, and he didn't need to be this way. This man cannot manage water or forests. You know they have had record rainfall and he hasn't built a single reservoir?

AOC: And they can walk it back as much as they want. They have done this. Who put those judges there? Not Democrats. Not independents. Republicans put those judges in there.

Ansari: My parents fled an authoritarian regime in Iran. They came to this country because America was supposed to be different. This country welcomed them. It allowed them to work hard and to build a better life. And in one generation, they watch their daughter become the first Iranian-American Democrat ever elected to Congress. That is the promise of America. And I refuse to let it be dismantled.

Latimer: They intend on ending Social Security. That's what they intend to do and the people who work in labor to do this work, the members of unions.. all of those people that lose their job, they don't care. Not important. They're not part of Mar a Lago's family.

Reporter: Are you criticizing Pam Bondi? Trump: No, I just want people to act. They have to act and we want to act fast. You know, they were ruthless and vicious. I was impeached twice. I was indicted five times…. We have to act fast one way or the other, one way or the other. They're guilty. They're not guilty. We have to act fast. If they're not guilty, that's fine. If they are guilty or if they should be charged, they should be charged. And we have to do it now.

CNN: How would you sum up the Democrats message ahead of the July 4th holiday? MacFarlane: They don't want to be surrendering patriotism to Donald Trump's show on the national mall. I think when it comes to the patriotic undertones of this incredibly important birthday, they are unified and they are trying to emphasize it…. They had this event at Independence hall, a parade, a concert at night. Truly devoid of partisanship. While on the national mall in Washington where things seemed to be overtly political by nature, there is a contrast.

MacFarlane: What should folks be concerned about in the latest inflation report? Crow: I don’t have to tell them what to be concerned about. They know what to be concerned about because they know they can’t afford their groceries, can’t pay their rent, farms are going under, and they’re canceling their summer vacations. We talk about data and metrics and people put out reports, and they’re like, “What does this mean?” The American people know what it means. They live this. This is their daily lives. They’re suffering. It’s getting worse. This administration is spending money hand over fist for UFC fights, golden ballrooms, and algae-infested reflecting pools. They are so out of touch, it’s unbelievable.

"If you look at this type of character throughout history—the malignant narcissist, the narcissistic sociopath ... Those those kind of people when they start feeling the walls close in on them, when it becomes too difficult to resist reality, and when they come to the conclusion that they're cornered (even though they're trying to deny it), and they're trying to fight the reality—they become much, much more dangerous. ... And the question is, 'How much power do they have to cause destruction?' Because they want to destroy. That's why they're called malignant narcissists. They deep down subconsciously (or consciously) seek to destroy things. And as things become worse for them, as the difficulty of maintaining their delusions overcomes them, they seek to take everyone down with them."

Phillip: They were armed. They burst into the house. Mr. Gibson's lawyers filed with the judge to say that they did not have a warrant. Jennings: Is he an illegal alien? Phillip: He had an arrangement with ice that allowed him to be in the country as long as he checked in. He had just checked in with them. They could have picked him up last week when he was in the office. They didn't do that. What they did was they broke down the door without a warrant, and they detained him. Jennings: The only reason this is happening, is because they can't get an arrangement with the locals to pick them up in the jails. Phillip: You keep saying that. It doesn’t make it true.

People who gave gifts in this wedding knew what they were doing. They blessed the couple with every essential gift that they'll use to build their home. As a country, we need to imitate them because they're a good example and they believe in building not destroying.

Phillip: It's also a reaction that people have to knowing that if they have an interaction with ice, whether or not they are legal, whether they are a citizen, they might have their freedom stripped from them. Do you acknowledge that that is happening? Trover: I acknowledge that it happens every day in this country when somebody who has committed a crime or doesn't runs from the police, what are they going to do? Yes, you're going to be in trouble. Phillip: We’re talking about people who have not committed crimes. Trover: That’s my point. Why would they run if they have not committed crimes?

Pete Hegseth and JD Vance are also veterans. They have said this won't be like those forever wars. Do you not believe them when they say it will be different? Gov. Wes Moore: "I don't, because I don't know what evidence they have to show that."
