MacFarlane: "Watch out for a couple other vanity projects that are larger in scope and size than even the Reflecting Pool. The monumental arch is going to overshadow the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. It's going to block out the sun of those two places if and when... show more

MacFarlane: And there’s that enormous monumental arch they’re planning that critics say would overshadow Arlington National Cemetery. Some iconography meant to make the president’s legacy stand out in the landscape is not only a major expense, it’s also a potential eyesore.

MacFarlane: People who live in DC, count me among them, can't afford the rent. I mean, so you want to spend money on a reflecting pool and on a monumental arch, and on other vanity projects, you may be showing priorities that are misaligned. If you watch the bottom of the screen, you're going to see the DC primary results come in. And the candidate who ran most vehemently against Donald Trump is routing the competition in the primary for the nomination for mayor.

Vietnam veteran is reconsidering being buried in Arlington Cemetery because of Trump's arch: It's just simply inappropriate. If he wants to build a smaller arch that honors all veterans, particularly those who fell defending the United States, an arch that's appropriate in size and location, I'd have no problem with that. It's a vanity project.

Journalist Jim Acosta noticed that there are two staging areas in the traffic circle right across from the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery which looks like Trump is going to start construction of his Arch without approval from Congress & no work is being done to the pool

MacFarlane: Some national park service workers are so alarmed, they leaked internal spreadsheets that show where the money is going. We added the numbers together and found for the white house grounds for the vanity projects, the beautification and the needed upgrades: They've set aside $323 million for this year… $323 million compared to $7 million for the white house in 2024. That's a 5,000% increase. National mall has a ten fold increase from 2024 for projects that are the president's priority. Doesn't mean the money is directly being starved out of Yosemite, Yellowstone, Mount Zion, Grand Canyon. But we checked those parks all have significantly less funding allotted for them this year than they did two years ago, and there's a $30 billion backlog of deferred maintenance They are going to have to shortchange important projects throughout America to marshal donated money or taxpayer money on things like a reflecting pool, a helipad, a ballroom, and other vanity projects.

MacFarlane: When there was a lawsuit filed to stop the Trump changes to the Reflecting Pool, the plaintiffs argued that it's possible that the Trump team does long-term damage to the pool. Seems they were prophetic.

President Trump announced Wednesday that crews will begin refilling the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after spending over a month resurfacing it with the color "American flag blue.” Trump pulled out a poster in the Oval Office comparing the size of the reflecting pool to that of some of the largest buildings in the U.S., and told reporters that the roughly $1.5 million renovation will "last for 50 to 100 years."

🚨 Trump is now cleaning up the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial as the next project to revitalize the nation’s capital. How are the libs going to find a reason to be mad about this?

.President Donald J. Trump on beautification projects in D.C., such as the Triumphal arch, and the Reflecting Pool: "That's going to be very much like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, except a larger version." "I want to open [the Reflecting Pool] before July 4th."

🚨 NOW: Interior Sec. Doug Burgum UNLEASHES on the Democrats who keep whining about President Trump's restoration of the filthy Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool "This thing has been FAILING, 40,000 gallons per day that's [leaking] out of this thing!" "That's MILLIONS in a year!" "We took out 2.5 MILES worth of rotting seam material that connects to different components in the base of the pool for where these expansion joints are." "There's been a lot of, I don't want to call it mocking, maybe it's just misunderstanding about the color. The color, American flag blue, is meant to enhance the reflectivity. It's called the REFLECTING POOL." "It's not a look to the bottom and see how deep it is pool. It's a reflecting pool, and anyone that is, from the experts in the city, you know, if you want to have a reflecting pool in some kind of fountain or some kind of place around the world, you want to have a dark base on the color." "There was a time in history when this reflecting pool was actually asphalt black." "It's the same blue as the navy blue, it's an American flag. So it's the appropriate color choice, and I think when it's completed, people are going to see that, again, 47 million people come to the National Mall every year." Perfectly said.

Trump’s arch is a vanity project. Not a national security project. His claims are not only absurd, but they are a direct affront to the veterans who have proudly served this country and the hallowed ground of Arlington National Cemetery. ⬇️

Wolfers: "Remember the president came to power saying, 'I will reduce the cost of living on day one.' Well, the expectation that interest rates are going to be higher in the future—that's already being priced in by markets, which is to say that anyone who's out there trying to negotiate a new mortgage right now, you're going to get a much worse deal than you would have three, four, five months ago. And that's precisely because of the president's actions. So it's just another way in which the president has sort of said, 'I'm for affordability' and quietly done the opposite."

Brett Meiselas: If we made this prediction on the MeidasTouch podcast: It's really important that you vote this election, because if you don't, they're going to bulldoze the East Wing of the White House. They're going to destroy the reflecting pool. They're going to try to demolish the Kennedy Center. They'll probably host a UFC fight on the lawn. We're going to start a catastrophic war in the Middle East. Measles is going to rage back. We're going to start a trade war with Canada. Oh, and by the way, the FBI is also going to start making exceptions for hiring people who engage in bestiality. People would have been like, "This is the most conspiratorial podcast I've ever heard."

Katie Phang on the importance of her lawsuit: "We need to show that this Trump regime doesn't have a monopoly on the truth. Cause I feel like that's the energy they're giving. Like we're going to distort everything. We're going to weaponize everything. And we're going to gaslight the shit out of you so that you think that what we're peddling to you is truth. And it's not."
