Macron: Europe has become too slow compared with China and the US. Over the past 20 years, Europe has fallen behind the US in GDP per capita. More than two-thirds of that gap comes from weaker innovation. Europe has to innovate much faster. 1/

Macron: Europe also needs to become more independent. If we buy only American technology, we will not be able to regulate it. If we only consume what others build, we will not solve our growth problem either. Strategic autonomy has to run from defense to technology. 2/

Macron: On AI, Europe needs its own computing power, data centers, talent and sovereign models. We cannot leave all compute capacity to the US. Europe needs companies capable of training frontier models and deploying them across the economy. 3X

People innovate when they are either ambitious, uncomfortable, or at risk. Europeans are comfortable, don't appreciate that they are at risk even if they are, and the strong social safety net may sap ambition more than Europeans would like to admit.

@bystarlightnite I’m not often in agreement with Macron, but on this issue and on his support for the UK rejoining the EU I fully support him. Collectively, Europe is the intellectual equal or better than any other nation or group. Collaboration is the key.

B the time European politicians are announcing something on a large platform - it's waay too late. Usually 10-20 years before someone like Macron is voicing it. Nuclear, German competitiveness, AI, energy, military - it's all too late. Better late than never, but too late.

Good luck with innovation in the high-cost, high-bureaucracy, and high-tax environment. It is communist’s dream that people would innovate for the sake of innovation only but people innovate to be the strongest, best, richest, most famous, etc

The speeches will continue until the innovation improves.

Europa cannot innovate if it pumps all the money into pensions.

An asylum for retirees which exploits its youth to fund pensions does not innovate.

Amazonized and aliexpressed.

Bla bla bla

And this globalist scumbag is one of the main culprits too

Learn from Ukraine and Canada

So, maybe it's time for deregulation all the bs that slowing down EU!

Over the past 20 years, Europe has fallen behind ............ Since when has this weird, unnecessary EU Commission been around? That question has already been answered.

Over regulated. What to expect ?

And France is one of the worst offenders. Fix your own country first.

He’s good at making grand speeches.
