Macron is currently doing almost the impossible balancing act between Trump and Zelensky to bring the American and Ukrainian positions as close as possible ahead of Trump’s presidency. The meeting itself is a great geopolitical achievement by France.

Absolutely but. Only possible because German politics is in disarray not seen in generations. Macron is the best politician Europe has to offer at the moment. His gamble earlier this year by calling for new elections when he knew his popularity was low played out well. Putting his pride aside ‘Trump often lightly mocked him during campaign’ and Calling Trump to Paris to meet with Zelensky while Biden is in Angola will win him big points with new administration.

Orbán was rather hinting that he would be the go-between between his friend Trump and Zelensky and particularly while Hungary still holds the EU Presidency that was a possibility. But it's Macron. Orbán's willingness to talk with Putin may be looking even less astute tonight.

Velina don't read too much from this meeting. Macron is at losing end & clutching every straw. Zelensky is terrified with upcoming Trump presidency. As 4 Trump he is going to be as unpredictable as ever. These r formal get togethers nothing more. Europe shud prepare 4 the worse.
