Mafloid really got me looking at old Harry Potter scenes and siding with Malfoy Malfoy tries to be friendly > Ron laughs at Malfoy for no reason > Malfoy attacks back > Harry sides with Ron just cause hes his friend and antagonises Malfoy > MALFOY WAS A VICTIM.

In the cursed child draco confides in Harry about how he was a little jealous of Ron Harry and Hermione's friendship because it's was real and honest no hidden agendas nothing to gain from the interaction but friendship and after reading them as a quartet they'd have been+

Wow

Honestly I can understand that take, and the problem with it is he’s more a victim of his heritage than harry or Ron because his version of being friendly to them is a prissy rich kid talking down to them. I agree just not in such a small picture

In the movie, yeah. In the books, they meet in Madam Malkins, and Draco talks mad shit about Hagrid (the literal first person to ever be nice to Harry as far as he can remember).

This completely misses the context of the conversation they had in Madame Malkin's. Harry already figured out Malfoy before he was offered being "friends" (being another minion).

Kinda true, but it was the extra layer of "better than others" that tells Harry this kid isn't just one to counter mockery.

It's like Flash Thompson in old Spiderman comics. He was actually trying to be friends with Peter a lot of the time, just Peter was too occupied and snarky to reciprocate.

This sensitive young man was tormented for years for NO REASON pushing him toward the darkest depths of humanity, and it took imagining him as a WOMAN (derogatory) for us to sympathize with his plight!!!

Not really true, Malfoy disrespected the Weasleys while fully aware that Harry is standing near Ron. He arrogantly assumed that Harry will just listen and run after Draco like obedient little puppy.

What Little Witch Academia does that is superior to Harry Potter is it resolves this sort of dynamic successfully. Akko and Diana both love and want the same things, despite coming from opposite sides of the ladder in the magic world and opposite sides of the planet. I believe this is the appeal of Malfoid asides from wish fulfillment: Closure. Narrative Closure. By opening up the room to breathe in the stories for relationship, they wind up with plot beats that would put Malfoy closer to Potter, be more involved in his world and, probably, come together in ways the original story did not allow. This creates a narrative union of opposites which is as old as time and allows for fusion or synthesis which is just...a payoff. There is no payoff in the original, its just obnoxiously British two guys who know each other who did some things in school or whatever British men do or however British men are. I believe people instinctively seek these things and types of stories. So with a girl Malfoy who has been through that much with Harry Potter inevitably concludes in a very different ending than Ginny, you give the Wizarding World its most unthinkably powerful couple ever and symbolically unite the houses of Slytherin and Gryffindor, and "next generation" stories could have split kids apart and been fantastic. Twins where one is in Gryffindor but takes after Malfoy and one is in Slytherin but takes after Potter, etc Instead we have sort of a let down ending of "society went back to the way it was and everything was stagnant socially the end". The setting simply doesn't move forward. It has a postmodernist-type ending of longing for an idyllic past and just sort of...going back there. Nothing changes. Like...ok?

Ron laughs bc her name is "Draco Malfoy" a boy name for a girl

Funny thing about his superiority complex is that he clocks Ron right off the fucking bat. Kid was 10 and must've studied dozens of families like he was about to take the fucking OWLs He's like a racist that learns French so he can CHOOSE not to speak it, not because he can't

No? Eventually, we'd understand Draco, but this first scene doesn't portray a humble boy trying to make friends. I don't know what scene you're watching lol

Okay but Ron just thought his name was funny Malfoy came and attacked his whole family One of these is definitively worse than the other, and it's not Ron

I mean even if Harry wasnt friendly with Ron at this point, I doubt he'd want to be friends with someone who gives him the same vibes as the Dursleys

And Harry completely overlooked Ron's nastiness toward Hermione, even as early as on the train. Ron was more nasty toward Hermione because she was clever and enthusiastic than Draco ever was because she was a mudblood.

Nah. Malfoy was clearly giving Ron shit because his father looks down on Ron's father. Malfoy was clearly being malicious, but for the purpose of propping himself up as the "better" option to Ron

I'd agree with you if Malfoy stopped at calling Ron a weasly, which mean is kind of fair play since Ron laughed at him. But the whole "some wizard families are better than others" is some grade A jackass stuff and Harry obviously was right to blow him off.

Ok but Malfoy then goes farther then Ron does and makes himself the bad guy

ok when some one would do make malfoid, crabbe and goyle as gyaru girls ????????

If Potter had been friends with Malfoy, he would have joined Slytherin, been adopted as a second son by Snipe if only just to get back at Potters father, and he would have ending up welcoming Voldemort as one of his living horcrux.

Yeah, early on Malfoy really does try to be friends with Harry. Sure it's partially for clout, but look me in the eyes and tell me Ron doesn't stick around because Harry is the boy who lived

I think he had a chance at redemption until the very end, then he was cooked. Didn't take those chances.

Also movie doesn't have a scene where Malfoy and Potter meet each other at clothing shop

I expect someone to use AI to remake the series with Malfoid replacing Draco any minute now

Offered his hand, got spit on in return

MALFOY DID NOTHING WRONG

Weasleys are black Irish mudbloods.

That's taking it a little too far, mate.

how come you considered his show of being highborn as "being friendly"? he almost said: I'll be you friend for 50$ per hour

Harry really is his father's son.

Harry gets caught up in a generational pureblood feud between literal cousins simply because the first person he meets is on one side and was nice to him at a vulnerable time

That's exactly how Gryffindors are though. They project evil upon others and then attack that with malice. He could've just said 'sure' and moved on without creating problems. It would've cost him nothing.

See if Malfoy had insulted Ron back I think there could have been room for compromise but he immediately attacked Ron's family which is a big red flag.

Esto ya lo he vivido yo antes...
