Europeans have always been serfs, peasants, and subjects. No servant has any expectation of being anything other than a good servant. In the US a servant can become Lord of the Manor. We don’t have a “Boxing Day” because we don’t serve anyone on Christmas Day. We are equals in the US and yea, America fosters exceptionalism.
