Production shortages Supply chain issues Corporate price gouging Spike in demand So yes there are other reasons for prices going up for specific products, but prices going up across the board is inflation. So not sure what his point was gonna be…

It's a known fact that MAGA does not understand the language they are communicating in.

I’ve always understood inflation to be the expansion of the money supply. Prices only go up because the value of the dollar goes down. But this is only true in certain sectors. The cost of plasma TVs has exponentially gone down. Same as true with computers.

The dude was missing some of the vocab, and worded the question poorly, but perhaps he was getting at the price of a particular good or service can rise and fall with out inflation( perhaps a good old generic supply and demand analogy)

A bit simplistic. Inflation occurs in the broad, persistent, and general increase in price levels across the economy, tied to the reduced purchasing power of money... Individual prices can jump due to short-term disruptions (e.g., bad weather for crops).. but that is not “inflation”.

While I get it - the cost of a goods is affected by other things than the unit cost. A VAT increase for example brings up a price of a goods for the purchaser, but is not due to inflation
