"We are by default, non-disclosure. Many of my customers are competitors, and some are so strict, we are not allowed to name them. We'd be happy to sign any NDA you have." "Uh, I didn't bring one." "I have a boilerplate NDA we can fill out then." Printed it out with the names and dates, all inclusive, signed them. "Ok, do you have the device?" "Uh, I didn't bring it." "Do you have a picture?" "Uh, no." "How big is it, and how many components?" "Uh, it fits on a desk, and has about 50 parts." "Not sure that's going to be enough information to quote it for you. What does it do?" "Uh, it's a perpetual motion machine." "Well, I can save you some money. The US Patent Office doesn't require drawings for perpetual motion machines. You must bring in a working model and demonstrate it to them with the appropriate instrumentation. At that point, then they will ask for drawings." "Uh, really?" "Really, really."
