Mumbai’s 900-year-old Banganga Tank is facing the same tragedy again. Hundreds of fish have died in the historic tank at Walkeshwar following Pitru Paksha. And sadly, this isn’t new. In 2025, BMC removed 10,000 kg of dead fish and organic waste from Banganga. Similar mass fish deaths were reported in 2023 and even in 2022. The tank dates back to 1127 AD and is one of Mumbai’s oldest surviving water bodies, fed by an underground freshwater spring. Ritual offerings are suspected to be contributing to the deterioration of water quality and oxygen levels, but the exact cause of this year’s deaths is still being investigated. BMC has now called priests and residents for a meeting.

Tinubu and Wike are intentionally destroying Abuja. Children are now trekking miles with yellow jerrycans for water before dawn instead of going to school, while Maitama, Wuse, Asokoro, and Guzape are reduced to scavenging from wheelbarrows as boreholes run dry. With water reportedly diverted for private construction and pipes destroyed by unplanned building, people are forced to drink and bathe less, even missing school runs. Here’s a thread of our sustained reporting on the failure of Abuja's water supply under Wike. 🧵

" Nigerian government well done, it took me four days of going up and down to charge my powerbank and I had to pay extra money because of increase in the price of fuel ⛽️. What exactly are we enjoying as citizens? There is a road at Orita Oja Odan Ipokia Ogun State where I attended secondary school. It started before I got into the school, and I finished in 2019. The road is still under construction"

They call her a teacher, a guide, and a changemaker — Meera is a woman who saw learning not as a privilege, but as a right. At Sukarya, she began by teaching children of construction workers — those who couldn’t afford to go to school. Her idea was simple yet profound: if children can’t reach school, let school reach them. What began as a small classroom under the open sky soon became a movement for education, health, and self-reliance. From training adolescent girls to building awareness about nutrition and reproductive health, Meera has shaped lives one lesson at a time. Her journey reminds us that when women educate, entire communities rise. The Better India

I visited the Coastal Road, and I’m here to tell you that the project is for the construction and extension of Eko-Atlantic City 2.0. Look at all the high rises they are building in the middle of the roads that’s what the coastal highway is for. They are using your money to erect these buildings while making noise about coastal road. The same person who owns the Eko-Atlantic city is the same person claiming to be financing the coastal road. All these structures are on top of sand filled water body and swamp near the ocean.

🚨 A major operation is underway to try to stabilise a 37 storey under construction building in #NewYork. The former Pfizer HQ building at 235 E 42nd St was being converted from an office to a residential building. Construction workers on the 21st/22nd floors noticed structural support columns & beams buckling and cracks and caused floors 21–26 to sag under load. The city authorities are bringing in emergency beams & columns to strengthen and support the structure and take load after buckling columns & sagging floors. The engineers are monitoring the situation minute-by-minute; emergency trusses are planned once it is safe to enter. The building remains unstable but there is no collapse. The largest conversion of office-to-residences was aimed at adding 1,600 apartments in Manhattan. Over nine nearby buildings have been evacuated; including Kennedy International School with 400 children and a hotel, nearby streets closed near Grand Central. Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani said the building in a partial collapse in Manhattan "remains unstable," & described the incident as an "extremely serious situation." He said evacuations were ensured for public safety. It is a developing situation. #US #UnitedStates
