@monad Ethereum-level decentralization and compatibility with Solana-level throughput. If you expect blockchains to scale to taking on the world's financial flows—which I do—then building more scalable blockchains is one of the most foundational problems in the industry. That simple.

Didn't imply that Solana is not decentralized. I'm saying that getting Solana-level performance while maintaining L1 decentralization requires an enormous amount of R&D. Solana is pretty decentralized. But Solana also has higher hardware requirements than Monad validators. Judging from validator specs, you can't validate Monad on a laptop like Ethereum, but you can validate it on call it prosumer level hardware (32-64GB RAM recommended minimum), whereas Solana you need 256GB RAM minimum.

@meta_alchemist @monad Lower validator requirements is certainly a plus. But performance-wise (let's say from a standpoint of latency to tx inclusion), are they at parity with Solana? If not, then it seems their aim is kind of a middle ground between Ethereum and Solana, albeit EVM.

Pretty unlikely they're going to be at performance parity with Solana. But I believe they're close. 500ms block time, which is close to Solana (although I think with Alpenglow Solana is going to be <=400ms), throughput we'll see in mainnet environment. Would love to see an AMM benchmark applied.

@monad The future of apps isn’t solely on monolithic blockchains. Most major apps will be architected like rollups, maintaining control of tx ordering &amp; posting data to a base layer like Espresso optimized for speed &amp; throughput, not execution. But we won’t call them rollups, just apps.
