China folded first, slashing their tariffs from 125% to 10% after Liberation Day pressure, while U.S. exports surged. Tariff revenue now funds deficit reduction and the Farmer Bridge Assistance program, repaying agriculture for absorbing retaliation. This isn’t about “winning” a news cycle—it’s about locking gains after forcing Beijing to blink. The chaos was the tool. The $500B annual tariff haul proves the pain had purpose.

So let me get this straight, the courts rule that Trump cannot behave like a dictator,. but then he responds by flouting checks and balances and behaving like a dictator because he just can't help himself, he's a petty, insecure narcissist. SCOTUS made a rare, principled call. And for all the MAGA fools who claim that the Supreme Court is full of "traitors" or "activist justices," keep in mind that they've sided with Trump a vast majority of the time, especially on emergency or "shadow" dockets. It's not up for debate. As president, you can't abuse your authority by invoking ambiguous emergencies to enact your unilateral policies. This is INDEED how dictators and kings govern. And perhaps for once, SCOTUS has also sided with the public on this matter. Because according to all recent polling, a MAJORITY of Americans believe that Trump's tariffs are HARMFUL to the economy. When polled, more respondents said that they believe the economy is only going to get worse under Trump. Note also that Trump has had to reverse many of his tariffs precisely because they were raising costs, hurting domestic industries, regressively taxing Americans, causing trade wars, etc.. Even then, multiple analyses have revealed that Americans are footing over 90% of the bill for Trump's tariffs. Shocker! The reality is, tariffs aren't primarily meant to be used for the purpose of raising money. They're mainly used for things like addressing trade imbalances, protecting domestic industries, and sometimes they are used as a form of economic sanction. Trump supporters are CLUELESS. The administration knows that if it continues to boast about meager revenue gains, its voters will overlook the fact that the money being raised from tariffs is coming from American businesses and out of American pockets, and money that is being reserved for enacting Trump's kleptocratic policy agenda. The Trump administration is also bragging about a subset of the population receiving larger tax refunds, but again, most of those funds were paid by Americans and THEN some. It's all a gimmick, a publicity stunt, a way for Trump to appear like he's addressing the "affordability crisis," when in reality, he's done f-ck all to tackle systemic economic issues. The funds being brought in from tariffs are insignificant compared to government revenue collected from other sources. They absolutely do not account for the cost of other political gimmicks like the so-called "dividend checks" that Trump never intends to send, let alone Trump's ridiculous pledge to end the income tax. No, these funds don't even begin to offset the costs of Trump's kleptocratic thievery—including rising prices, rampant economic inequality and instability, broader financial and diplomatic risks associated with his tariff rates, and of course the consequences of his big ugly bill that has deprived millions of Americans of their access to healthcare, food assistance, and economic opportunities. Trump's policies are exploding the debt and deficit and his tariffs are unfairly taxing low income and working class Americans; causing wealth inequality to WORSEN. In fact, income inequality in this country just reached a 60-year peak. NOT a coincidence! Trump's tariff policies have also failed to sufficiently reduce the trade deficit, despite the fact that tariffs like these are almost guaranteed to artificially and temporarily shrink the deficit by suppressing imports. Most Americans also disapprove of Trump's broader handling of the economy because of the financial strain that his policies are inflicting on those of us who are struggling most. Nearly every economic analyst cautioned against his messy, self destructive and unilateral approach to tariffs. Even Adam Smith, the author of "The Wealth of Nations" and the so-called "father of American Capitalism" supported free trade with very minimal import/export restraints. If he were alive today, he'd be very critical of Trump's policies. (PART ONE)
