So true. Yesterday an elderly lady let me in front of her at the store and I shared a funny story about my dog; she was cracking up! She said I made her day. Older people can be forgotten; it's nice to chat with them and yes, make them feel like they matter.

Making people feel human is bigger than buying meal and patting yourself on the back. Its about employing people without judgement, it's about letting people live in peace in neighbourhoods without disturbing them, it's realising that not only you have the right to be American!

I can relate. When you're homeless everything becomes feral after a while. When you have to haul your water, washing is a luxury. Civilization gets stripped away and after a few years of being on the outside of society, you feel "other". Hope she found a home.
