Makes me emotional thinking about both sides. Buffy of course is done with her fate but tries to save the world risking her life anyway. And Joyce is just being protective of her beloved only (at this point) child. Neither of them was wrong.

Joyce was very much in the wrong, it's ok to not understand, but you never tell your child to not come back home!!! And you don't get to act all hurt when she in fact doesn't come back!!!

They were both a little wrong. Buffy just expects Joyce to accept the shock. Joyce told her not to come back. But I was sort of still with Buffy here. How did Joyce never suspect anything? Buffy must have come home with clothes covered in dust and blood so many times.

Joyce wasn’t a good mother I’m sorry ESPECIALLY when she said she wish she had another child that wasn’t Buffy (before learning of her being the slayer)

I feel they were both wrong in ways. But that’s more down to the time restraints the writers were under for the episode. I think Buffy was too dismissive of the bombshell Joyce had just had. But I think Joyce was wrong to tell her that if she leaves not to come back.

I feel this scene changes your perception when later down the line you find out both her parents committed her to a Pyschward when she came out before.

Joyce was justified in her feelings, but not her actions. Her actions were absolutely wrong.
