Making A Popular Character Redesign 101

Also I Just saw Sue’s Malice suit which now makes me wonder how Rivals would do Felicia since she’s always in the games 😂 Highkey miss the JACKED WheyFu 1994 Black Cat since they gave her super powers in that show.

🚀 Introducing Custom Characters & Styles on Freepik – the ultimate tool to achieve character consistency like never before! 🤩

I was def one of those foolishly naive people who judged Spectacular back in the day before watching cause I didn’t like the art style it had. The 90s art was more my aesthetic, but I’ll be damned just how Wrong I was for judging it cause I marathoned S1 & immediately craved more

Bass redisn for Battle network is marginally more popular than the OG. Wonder why that is?

I don't believe there's a single person out there male, female, straight, gay in any combination, variation or slide on the scale that didn't at least -think- "Woah, Daddy?!" at the Reed redesign.

Teen Titans is another one, to the point where those versions of the Titans besides Robin are probably the most popular of any version they have. Beast Boy and Cyborg in particular look very different from the comic versions, but people love them.

I love the point you brought up about when redesigns become Very exaggerated & the artist has now begun to fight an uphill battle against the audience. I like creative change at times but legit everything else has to be A+ in your show to succeed if the designs aren’t popular.

You reminded me of the tragedy of the 2011 Thundercats. Those character designs were fantastic. The writing... Not so much. Those first two episodes promised so much potential, then BAM, trainwreck! Like, why did the writers have such a grudge against Lion-O? The fuck was that?

Another redesign that hurt:

Glad to see RotTMNT still receiving praise for its incredible sakuga despite the stuff that they changed from previous iterations.
