Snow is a good insulator. This is because snow contains a lot of trapped air (up to 95% air in fresh snow), and air is a poor conductor of heat. When snow is packed into the blocks used to build an igloo, it traps heat inside the structure, preventing it from escaping into the cold outside air.

When I was a kid, I use to love digging out tunnels and forts like this in the snow. That was amazing fun! Now my bones hurt just watching this guy. ❄️😂
