For those of you who don’t know, that’s not a real grenade. On an actual grenade, after you remove the safety and pull the pin, the blue spoon is all you have to keep the grenade from detonating. Once you let go of the blue spoon, the striker slams into the primer like a hammer in a pistol. From there you have 3-5 seconds until detonation.

M67 doesn’t have a silver necks and the spring is not directly on the spoon. The spoon is actually holding the firing pin down and that’s what pushes the spoon up. The pin travels much faster and throws the spoon with about 10 times the force seen here.
