Making RAM at Home

DRAM is a good demonstration of capability, and I'd never tell another man what to build in his own chip fab shed, but... if it were me I'd consider parts of the tech tree that got briefly poked in the 70s/80s but never commercialized. Stuff like cryocomputing and async circuits.

did you build the plasma etch yourself?

haha I took an old SEM gold sputter coater, gutted it, and rebuilt it so it could etch, rigging up a turbo pump to it as well. I use fluorine based chemistry to etch the oxide or Si. Working on rebuilding a Trion mini-lock to replace it though :)

@aryamman_bhatia How much was the sputtering machine?

@Dan85052833 @aryamman_bhatia at this point I have no idea haha, it is the sputter coater of Theseus xD but could be remade for a few k at most, with the cost being largely in materials/cnc.

This is brilliant, watch out @SKhynix @Samsung @MicronTech !

Parents: We have RAM at home The RAM at home

Do you have a YT channel ?

yeah!

All i want is a nondescript shed like this to be my home lab.

Making RAM in the presence of dog hair is wild. Who needs clean rooms.

This is absolutely incredible!!! Well well done!! 🤯 Keep going! 🔥🔥🔥

Stud

Bro are you the guy with the semiconductor fab in your shed?

Please monetize this legend, @nikitabier

Where do you even go to learn this shit? 😂

This is legendary !!

Need a Test mt? Have bunnysuit, will travel.

@tempmillionaire this was the vid Xo

@rossiadam this seems right up your alley.

Why is this being hyped like next big thing, he has done no new invention, nothing of scale, it's a very good project done by a phg guy that's it, to prove an existing tech. People see a post and atart pumping people on X for nothing.

@natalie_thenerd

???

Paging @beffjezos - I like this mad lad

How can anyone actually do this?

Uhhhh… what the fuck? This is incredible..?! Incredibly impressive. Wow!

next level

Whats ur energy bill like lol

haha it is not too crazy, at idle the lab with the fans+lighting consumes 600W, then periodically the heating/cooling goes to ~1.5kW, I have solar panels which help mitigate the cost

awesome !

@fab2 @szeloof

We want this Dr in Cameroon by the end of next year.

Boss.

Holy shiet I need to build my own RAM

I watched this. Seems really easy to do. I'm going to clean out the garage and get started. Probably automate it & then start selling 16GB sticks too. 🤓
