During early testing, one lot of bars was also flavored with kerosene to make them less attractive as a snack. Luckily they quickly decided that wasn’t a good idea.

Given how much I like oats, and chocolate, I’d probably enjoy this. I am Scottish.

Good tasting MREs end up getting taken to work for lazy lunches. Thus I have barely tolerable MREs for actual emergencies.

They still give you something similar today.

When I was a kid in the 90s, my older brother got a whole bunch of army rations from his job as a supply officer and gave some to my parents. We went through a poor spot where we ate them and I remember this off chocolate so vividly.
