#JASMY defines the core of #Japan’s Web3 era. 🌐 For the Land of the Rising Sun, Web 3.0 is not merely a technical evolution of the existing Internet, but a profound structural shift in the way value, trust, and data are organized within the digital space. As conceptualized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Web 3.0 must be built on a decentralized architecture in which individuals are no longer passive users of digital services, but autonomous actors capable of owning, controlling, and directly leveraging their data, digital identities, and assets. This vision stands in clear contrast to the Web 2.0 model, where information and value are concentrated within large platforms that capture the majority of the data and revenues generated by online interactions. Within this new paradigm, blockchain plays a fundamental role as a trust infrastructure. Through distributed ledgers and cryptographic mechanisms, it becomes possible to establish direct relationships between individuals, organizations, and services without relying on a central authority to validate exchanges. Mutual authentication, data integrity, and traceability are natively ensured by the protocol itself, while significantly reducing management and intermediation costs. Web 3.0 is thus expected to guarantee the uniqueness and authenticity of exchanged information, while offering strong resistance to data falsification or manipulation. A central pillar of this Japanese vision lies in the redefinition of data ownership. Which one is our priority for securing a digital future for Zimbabwe? The Honourable Speaker's position while providing a clear, logical, and data-informed counter-argument we appreciate his efforts and submission. Let us have a conversation on our priorities in the current Zimbabwean context which we presented yesterday: This is a critical national conversation on our digital future. The proposition of a Google data centre is undoubtedly appealing. Building a centre of Technological Excellence that houses multiple Tech companies and a Start-up Ecosystem is also prudent, though we are calling it a Technology Park. However, I was of the following view which I am willing to be criticised and guided on. The strategic prioritisation of a national ICT Park ecosystem currently is the foundational path to sustainable, sovereign growth and capacity for Zimbabwe. We are reaching out to every province through the Digital Centres, Innovation Hubs at Universities and Colleges. Infrastructure which we need to capacitate better. This is a decentralised system utilising and expanding the infrastructure we have. The central question is not if we want major players like Google; that is not questionable, but when, how and on what terms. Why are we building our own foundation, house, techno park and mini ICT Parks in the provinces and districts? We absolutely need at least a one hyperscale data centre, but centralisation in the current and future environment can be restrictive. This was our plan: 1.The Foundation Before the Skyscraper: Capacity and Traffic We need to increase our national data volumes and internet traffic . Our urgent priority should be upgrading our national backbone, specifically the Optical Fibre on Power Transmission Lines (e.g., Powertel's network from Insukamini to Johannesburg), to peer efficiently with global giants. This builds the foundational "digital highway" we manage. 2.Generating Traffic Through Digitalization A data centre is a response to demand, not a creator of it. We must first drive digitalization aggressively through digital payments, process automation, and e-governance to generate the significant local traffic that would make a data centre viable. Furthermore, we must incorporate Edge Computing strategies to process data closer to the source, a more efficient model for our current needs and in compliance to our Cyber and Data Protection Act which we can amend if need be. Being a regional internet and cybersecurity hub is crucial as the Speaker alluded to me mentioning it to SADC Parliamentary Forum, this is the ultimate goal. 3.PPPs are key to lessen the burden to the fiscus and we are ready to accommodate organisations willing to assist government.(Cont)

The American ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pamela Tremont, said investment does not come where there is a high cost of doing business through corruption, she said such an environment is corrosive. She said this in Harare this week while speaking at the 249th American Independence commemoration. Pamela Tremont likened corruption to a cancer draining Zimbabwe of its valuable resources, warning that it has severely undermined trade and investment in the country. “A strong stance against corruption is also imperative, as it is corrosive to an investment climate. I strongly encourage efforts to fight this cancer in Zimbabwe’s economy that robs the Zimbabwean people of the benefit of their precious resources and raises exponentially the cost of doing business in Zimbabwe,” she said. Zimbabwe is the most corrupt country in Southern Africa, and most of this corruption is driven by Emmerson Mnangagwa himself and his criminal cartels. He stole US$3 billion in his first month as president through Command Agriculture, after toppling Robert Mugabe in a military coup led by his now Vice President, General Constantino Chiwenga, whom he has vowed will never succeed him. In 2017 when he came to power, Zimbabwe ranked 157th out of 180 countries on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), with a score of 22 out of 100, indicating a high level of perceived public sector corruption . As of the latest available data for 2024, Zimbabwe’s CPI score has declined to 21 out of 100, placing it at 158th out of 180 countries. This marks its worst performance since 2015 and as I said earlier, positions Zimbabwe as the most corrupt country in the SADC region.

Synthetic data will provide the next trillion tokens to fuel our hungry models. I'm excited to announce MimicGen: massively scaling up data pipeline for robot learning! We multiply high-quality human data in simulation with digital twins. Using 50,000 training episodes across 18 tasks, multiple simulators, and even in the real-world! The idea is simple: 1. Humans tele-operate the robot to complete a task. It is extremely high-quality but also very slow and expensive. 2. We create a digital twin of the robot and the scene in high-fidelity, GPU-accelerated simulation. 3. We can now move objects around, replace with new assets, and even change the robot hand - basically augment the training data with procedural generation. 4. Export the successful episodes, and feed that to a neural network! You now have an near-infinite stream of data. One of the key reasons that robotics lags far behind other AI fields is the lack of data: you cannot scrape control signals from the internet. They simply don't exist in-the-wild. MimicGen shows the power of synthetic data and simulation to keep our scaling laws alive. I believe this principle apply beyond robotics. We are quickly exhausting the high-quality, real tokens from the web. Artificial intelligence from artificial data will be the way forward. We are big fans of the OSS community. Why did Ian Whiffin agree to give expert testimony on Jen McCabe’s cellphone extraction, when the state refused to let him look at or even give him the full, original extraction OR its verification hash? A thread🧵 Full cellphone extractions, sometimes called forensic images, generate what’s called a “hash value”, which serves as a unique digital fingerprint necessary for ensuring the integrity of data. Any discrepancy between the hash values indicates tampering with or corruption of evidence, alerting forensic examiners to potential issues with the evidence. Hash verification is a fundamental principle and a rather ubiquitous practice in the world of digital forensics, where data validation and verification are key. It is the gold standard across the industry, and has also become so in the courtroom, whereby admissibility of digital evidence is determined by its relevance, authenticity and reliability. In court, the hash value can be used to demonstrate that the evidence has not been altered since its collection, and is a universal way for experts to authenticate and validate the reliability of data for the trial Court. But, an extraction that’s missing a hash value altogether is a huge red flag. 🚩 Who removed the hash value? And why? It’s necessary to the chain of custody, and as Gaurino and Tully would be well aware, it’s also an element of the data that an expert would require in order to verify and validate it. There’s no “good” reason for why someone would remove a hash value, and the extraction can’t be characterized as a forensic image as its origin is unknown. This was a deliberate step taken to hide something, which one could argue shows consciousness of guilt. If the data are true and accurate, why would you bring their integrity into question by removing the hash? However, if the data were altered or tampered with, and let’s say, hypothetically speaking, you wanted a digital forensic expert to provide testimony supportive of your “Google search” theory. . . In that hypothetical, you’d have to remove the hash value. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Iran and the United States would evolve into a long-term agreement following 60 days of technical-level dialogue, helping ensure peace and stability across the world. Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister congratulated the nation on a historic development, saying that the MoU had been signed by Iran and the United States, with Pakistan serving as a mediator. "It is a historic moment that Pakistan signed the MoU as a mediator between Iran and the United States," he remarked. The prime minister informed the House that the leadership of both countries participated in a high-level committee meeting in Burgenstock, Switzerland, a couple of days ago. He said Pakistan made sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue and reconciliation between the two sides, resulting in the preparation of a joint statement. He said a ceasefire between Iran and the United States had come into effect and that technical-level talks would continue over the next 60 days. Congratulating the nation, Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan's role in securing the truce as historic, adding that the country's efforts had received widespread recognition in international media. "The respect Pakistan has earned around the world through this achievement could not have been bought even by spending billions," he said. The prime minister also informed the House that Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad later in the day, where discussions would be held on further expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Referring to remarks made by Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai in the National Assembly, the prime minister said all four provinces had contributed to the development of Balochistan, which he termed a matter of satisfaction.
