The primary duty of the Election Commission of India is to ensure the voting rights of the common people, conduct free and fair elections, and give the people of this country the opportunity to cast their votes. But 27 lakh voters have been deleted from the electoral list. Today, I met Mr. Rajagopal. He was denied a passport because of the S.I.R. process. His daughter's marriage was in the US. At that time, he applied for the renewal of his passport. But the passport was denied on the grounds citing the reason that he was not on the voters' list. He is not a non-person.
