These protesters have pitched a tent on private property over a city issue, and the owners called them in for trespassing. The “leader” tells the police she's the liaison and they need to go through her so she can relay information back to them. The problem is, she’s not very bright. Watch as she makes a fool of herself. What should happen to people who think they can protest on private property or public streets? It’s an issue in our current environment.

"We've been very clear that is a nonstarter for us," she said. "We cannot be raising property taxes 9.5% on the backs of small property owners, small business owners, Black and brown communities throughout our city," Menin told NY1's Rocco Vertuccio.

The decision to do this follows an X-Space we held with young entrepreneurs who complained about not having space to work. We are availing this city asset for the benefit of young people to work and do business. Residents in Manhattan co-ops discovered the city had been calculating their property taxes using wildly overstated building sizes. One Upper West Side building was actually 22% smaller than the square footage NYC had on file. The city acknowledged the discrepancy and corrected the square footage going forward. Great! So refund the years of overpaid taxes, right? LOL. No. One building says it was denied a refund for the previous six years. A property-tax consultant who has analyzed hundreds of buildings estimates that 70% of NYC co-ops and condos may have overstated square footage. And NYC has since shortened the potential refund window from six years to three. I’m sure the city would show residents exactly the same grace if THEY underpaid their property taxes for years. Fair share for thee. Not for NYC.
