The Temple has never been rebuilt. Now our Catholic reading: The New Testament (Hebrews 8, Galatians 3, Romans 9–11) presents the Old Covenant as temporary and fulfilled in Christ. Physical descent does not guarantee membership in the people of God. Faith does. God remains faithful to His promises, but branches are cut off for unbelief. The Church is the continuation of the People of God. Modern Israel is a secular state. Criticism of its policies is not the same as rejecting God’s faithfulness or hating Jews. God proclaims so much about Israel in the Bible but I think the one that sticks with me most often is that God clearly says Israel is my first born son. There's a lot of meaning in just those few words because the firstborn son is the one in which parents have great expectations and the one who's going to be disciplined the most and the one who is probably going to be the most successful if they follow instruction. But even for those who don't read the Bible and even those who don't even believe in God you must know there's something different about Israel because Israel is surrounded by enemies and those enemies have tried to get rid of Israel for years and Israel continues to stay right where it is on the map. The day that Israel is moved will be the day that God decides it should move. And many of the people that are protesting and outraged about the existence of Israel will perish long before Israel does. The worst thing that the United States could ever do is turn it back on Israel because Israel has the favor of God. Israel has the protection of God. And the United States should never want to be on the wrong side of God's favor.

Most Christians don’t disagree with the true descendants of God’s people, they reject the current government of Israel that commited a genocide. You can morally reject a genocide by separating its people from its government.
