@AnonUrban The fact that people don’t understand this is a controlled burn is troubling. This is what responsible forest management looks like. Places like CA should take notice.

This isn’t back burning by the forest service? They do do that. Not disputing it because there are a ton of wildfires now, which seems suspicious.

Just a heads up this is a common back burning practice . I worked for the usfs for years. It’s common to do this at night to cause a barrier between a fire and a road . All wild land firefighters do this.

Back fires are needed to stop raging fires.. The smaller fire will cause the large one to minimize with no foliage left to burn. This is not starting it to make it worse..it is to help stop slow and reduce it.

I understand the mentality behind controlled burns, but we have had several, several get out of control here in Colorado and becoming disastrous. Maybe maintaining forests by thinning, getting rid of dead and dying trees, and planting anew might be a better option?
