Survivorship bias, you only remember the good stuff. I just recently watched a magical girl series from the 90s and the only decent animation was from the transformation scenes (and barely decent at that), everything else was barely animated.

Meh dude, most of the stuff from back then is garbage compared to 2010's and now. Just because you can find a few decently animated scenes from 20 yo anime, does not mean it was peak era for it. In fact, we've been blessed by many well animated series lately. It was rare in 2002
