That is pretty standard across the industry in California. Not an original idea. We have several around the farm, some more popular to the owls than others. You know they’re working when you see the bones start to pile up at the base of the mounting post.

And to accomplish this amazing feat, all this farmer needed was 150 AI credits to generate the clips he needed.

In almost every table grape, wine , nuts, orange ranches in central California they have owl outpost all throughout orchards instead of using zinc pellets to kill them. Better alternative

I have a couple of barn owls that perch on my roof. It’s rare that we see any mice or rats on our property. They r magnificent to watch as they swoop in to catch prey.

Point> Not everything from AI is fake. In this case the info is valid and helpful; the lowly Barn Owl is amazing and helpful against rodents. The prep allowed the message to be compressed into the micro-dose social media users are addicted to.

This is actually legit farming practice in California vineyards. Barn owl boxes are cheap, chemical-free rodent control and owls can eat thousands of mice/gophers per season. AI video is cheesy but the idea is smart. Nature's pest control >> poison.

I am going to have to research these guys. I am getting ready to do a cordon espalier orchard which is a similar configuration and this would be super cool. Not that I have rodent problems, I just think owls are super cool.

Which is why growing up on one of the HW lakes of the Mississippi River in Northern MN we built a ton of lake swallow and bat houses to keep the MN State bird the mosquitoes down...

Fun fact. They mate in winter. Sounds like a whoopin and hollerin bunch of monkeys in the tree. Entire neighbor hood hears them hahaha.

I live in the rural area just west of Napa Valley (NW Santa Rosa) next to open fields and vineyard. We have gophers everywhere. Put up 2 boxes built & sold by Boy Scouts in Sebastopol. Kept them up for 8 to 10 years til posts 12ft tall rotted (PTDF!) and fell over. NOT one feather in either box. No owls, no bones at base of pole. YET We hear owls calling to one another in a wee-hour morning symphony. No idea what went wrong with this experiment but I am a bit doubtful of the clip I just watched!

The facts in the video are accurate overall. Except that I wouldn't pay $50 for a wooden box with a hole in it. And the way a huge owl emerges from a 1" hole at the 0:14 mark is miraculous! You don't need AI for this. In fact, using AI in this video hurt your credibility.
