Prevention is proactive: acting before disaster strikes. ✔️ Good: Protects lives, property, and livelihoods. ❌ Challenge: Requires planning, investment, and consistent action. Management is reactive: responding after disaster has occurred. ✔️ Good: Provides rescue, relief, and recovery. ❌ Challenge: Lives may already be lost, property destroyed, and recovery can be costly. The lesson: We cannot stop every flood, but we can reduce its impact through proper planning, drainage maintenance, responsible waste disposal, and early preparedness. Be proactive, not just reactive. Prevention costs less than recovery.

Bielsa admits he has never tried to be the “friendly” coach. He values order, discipline, seriousness, obsession. That has made him one of the most respected minds in football. But even Bielsa seems to accept something powerful here: That approach does not work for every player. It does not work in every environment. And knowledge alone is never enough. As a coach, you have to find a way to connect. Quote us on this: “You can have all the knowledge in the world, but it is absolutely useless if the people playing don’t like you. Player management and people management might not be on coaching courses, but don’t be kidded by associations. It is the most important quality a coach can have.” Football is about tactics, detail, preparation and standards. But above all, it is about people. So many coaches out there fail to grasp this, they think they can shout their way to development or success, and this day and age you simply can't.

In 2019 on live TV with her, I called on Channel 9 to bring back Karl. Now with 6 months to go on his contract the weak management of Channel 9 want to sack Karl over this interview. Tommy Robinson has a lesson for Australians. If we don’t learn from the UK’s mistakes on immigration and radical Islam, we are going to face the same destruction. Yesterday the Portfolio Committee on Police engaged SAPS and IPID on their 2026/27 Budget and Annual Performance Plans. SAPS has a budget of about R127 billion, but more than 80% goes to compensation. That leaves too little for vehicles, technology, infrastructure, investigations, equipment and basic tools of trade. That is a serious concern. SAPS must also stop confusing activity with impact. Arrests and visibility matter, but the real test is whether murders come down, illegal firearms are traced, gang networks are dismantled, corrupt officials are removed, and strong cases lead to convictions. SAPS integrity management must become real. Lifestyle reviews, discipline, procurement oversight and consequence management must lead somewhere. The Divisional Commissioner of Supply Chain Management remains a serious stumbling block and, in my view, must be suspended and further investigated. It is also worrying that so much is still spent on VIP protection while ordinary communities suffer critical policing shortages. VIP protection must be based on clear threat and risk indicators, not status. Last night I joined the City of Cape Town Metro Police gang and drug team on a ride-along in the Athlone area. The operation followed information shared by neighbourhood watch members two nights earlier during foot patrols around Athlone police station. That is the lesson: we need all hands on deck. Imagine if the City of Cape Town could work more directly on gang-related firearm investigations and even support ballistic testing. That would be a massive force multiplier for SAPS. We welcomed the way General Dimpane, the Acting National Commissioner, led the SAPS team with the Acting Minister in Parliament, as well as the improvement under Dr Bila at IPID. But plans are not enough. People need police stations that work, detectives who can investigate, intelligence that leads to convictions, clean procurement and leadership that accounts for results. IC
