The problem with PSR or SCR when it comes to Newcastle United is that the club can't afford mistakes in the transfer market. Manchester United and Chelsea have both had truly terrible transfer windows numerous times over the last few years, while Man United are in debt as well, but that isn't taken into account and they just keep spending. Who Really Runs Labour's Red Wall Towns People are waking up. They can see what Oldham has become. Not a town suffering from isolated incidents, but a place where political violence, intimidation and institutional silence are now built into the system. Let us strip this back to the truth. Greater Manchester Police then rolled out their familiar line that there is no threat to the wider public, as if anyone should be comforted by the idea that only political opponents are being firebombed. We have seen this script before. Over three years on and there is still no update on who blew up Arooj Shahs unlocked car. No progress. No transparency. No accountability. Every politically sensitive crime in this borough receives the same treatment. Minimise it. Bury it. Wait for the public to forget. Why does this happen. Because the people who benefit from this climate of fear depend on silence. They depend on compliant media. They depend on a police force willing to downplay political violence in order to protect the status quo. But that grip is slipping. Oldham is no longer the place where stories disappear. There is a cartel civil war taking place for control of Oldham Council. On one side is the Pakistani sectarian bloc known locally as the Oldham Group. On the other is the Labour faction with direct links to organised-crime figures. This Oldham Labour Group faction is fronted by Jim McMahon’s protégé, Arooj Shah. Now leader of Oldham Council, Arooj Shah has long-documented links to serious criminals in the town, including the getaway driver of a police killer, and a convicted kidnapper and torturer. Her brother is also a convicted criminal. I have no time for the Oldham Group. But the petrol-bomb attack on the car of Shah Bahram, their candidate in St Mary’s ward, is completely unacceptable. People across Oldham knows where this tactic comes from. No one should be surprised it happened. No one should be surprised the media has failed to report on it, or that Andy Burnham's The Labour Party controlled Greater Manchester Police have failed to protect a man whose only crime was deciding he wanted to stand for council against the Labour Party. This is what we are fighting. Not just in Oldham, but across the country, where the Labour Party is desperately trying to hold on to its once-guaranteed Muslim bloc vote. We will stop them in Oldham. And the lessons we carve out here will become the model for every community facing the same corruption. Oldham is simply the first line. Stay brave.
