Sarah: I’m Sarah, and this is my daughter Audrey. We live outside of Columbus, Ohio, in Rep. Mike Carey’s 15th Congressional District. Audrey is 13 years old, and she is so loved in our family. We are incredibly lucky to have her. She’s compassionate, loving, and an amazing friend. Audrey has an active life—she dances, rides horses, and plays baseball. Audrey also has Pura syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. She has intellectual disabilities, seizures, mobility issues, cerebral palsy, and she’s nonverbal—but very expressive. Medicaid provides so much in our lives: her G-tube supplies, her wheelchair, her speech device. It also provides a caregiver for Audrey so that her father and I can work outside the home. In the past, medically complex and intellectually disabled kids like Audrey were institutionalized. They didn’t live at home. They didn’t attend school, where they could socialize and learn life skills. They weren’t part of their communities… When Audrey grows up, she’ll need Medicaid too. Medicaid provides adult day and work programs, so she can continue to be part of our community—surrounded by people who love and care for her. Audrey’s life is just as valuable as any other child’s. Audrey’s life is big. She doesn’t need words to be a good friend—but she does need Medicaid.

Audrey Hepburn’s philosophy on aging in her own words. “She deliberately looked different from other women and dramatised her own slenderness into her chief asset” ― Edith Head (Chief costume designer at Paramount) Since her debut in Roman Holiday, Audrey rejected Hollywood’s standards of beauty. At a time when Marilyn Monroe was considered the ultimate sex symbol: blonde hair, hourglass figure, and exuding sex appeal, Audrey, unwittingly, ushered in a new era femininity. Despite her own personal insecurities, which she had been more than candid about —her thinness, her small chest, the size of her nose, her crooked teeth, and large feet — Audrey learned to embrace her limitations and emphasise her flaws. With the help of her friend and French couturier, Hubert de Givenchy, together the two created “The Audrey Hepburn Look”. Instead of hiding or minimising her small waist, long neck, and ballerina posture, they dramatised it with the help of his designs and Audrey’s model figure. Her makeup artists would overdraw her eyebrows to exaggerate their fullness and emphasise her famous doe eyes. The idea was to learn to accept your imperfections as oppose to camouflaging them. In her later years, she embraced aging with the same principles. Having survived WWII, Audrey knew that getting older was a privilege, “I decided ages ago to like life unconditionally. This daughter had a special gift for her dad. She took his Chicago Bears jersey that he had of QB Jim McMahon and mailed it to Jim with a letter telling Jim her dad was a big fan of his. Jim McMahon - you remember him right? Mike Ditka, Walter Payton, William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Mike Singletary- the 85 Bears! Da Bears! Well, Jim received the jersey, and not only did he autograph it, he made a video of himself signing it and sent it back to Tim along with a 40th anniversary ring of their Super Bowl. Jim McMahon is the man! What an awesome human being. He’s an underrated treasure and he’s looking good these days although I miss the hair and headband. 💯 And Tim’s daughter, you can see how much she loves her daddy. Moments like these give us memories forever. 🥹❤️ Do you remember that Bears team? 40 years ago? 🤯 Have you ever done anything like that for a family member or maybe someone did something like that for you?

This young lady was adopted by a family, however they never treated her like one of their own. She was never allowed to family events, and on this thanksgiving they lied to her and said that there wasn’t going to be a dinner that year, she drove by a family remembers house and saw they were all gathered there for dinner while she was supposed to be at home alone on a holiday. Why bother adopting and welcoming a child into your family if you don’t treat them like family?

I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally.
