On January 3, leaders of the Kuki civil society organisation mobilised a large crowd in Kangpokpi, leading to violent clashes between civilians and security forces. The confrontation left several injured, including a woman and multiple men, some of whom are now in critical condition. The protest was ignited by a provocative call to action, urging women to "storm the SP office" in Kangpokpi. Responding to the rallying cry, tensions escalated as an armed Kuki mob, allegedly supported by militants, launched an attack on the SP office.
