In Sudan, the Muslim Brotherhood organisation committed atrocious crimes under the regime of Omar al-Bashir. He imposed Sharia law that included torturing women, also state sanctioned executions. He also used rape as a weapon of war. He destroyed Sudan's economy and civil service, and he is supporting the current civil war led by the Sudanese Armed Forces today. This has led to the killing of civilians and the displacement of millions, causing a refugee crisis, but it's not one you will have heard too much about. Ask yourselves why that is? The crimes committed by Sudanese Armed Forces justify the recent French decision adopted by its parliament, calling on the European Union to include the Muslim Brotherhood on the list of terrorist organisations—a decisive step to confront their global threat. True; I think back to this clip of this displaced family from the start of the war. The man says victory to Burhan but his wife interjects and says not to Burhan victory to the Army institution. In Sudan there are some who love Burhan and some who hate him that is a completely separate matter in most Sudanese people’s minds from support for the Army as an institution; which despite efforts by some to conceal this fact, has wide support amongst the Sudanese peoples in its efforts to put down this UAE sponsored proxy militia.

Somaliland stands as a democratic state that has banned the Muslim Brotherhood and chosen coexistence over extremism. The United States must support decisive action against Islamist jihadist forces wherever they operate, whether in Yemen, Sudan, or the West. In a statement issued today, the Council of Ministers praised the “strong and noble patriotic stances” of Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, for “preserving the unity, cohesion and dignity of the country,” and affirmed its full support for his speeches and positions that “fulfill the Sudanese people’s rights to defend land and honor.” Although the statement did not explicitly mention Hemedti or his declared ceasefire, it constitutes a direct rejection of it by stressing that any peace must follow the roadmap submitted by the Sudanese government to the United Nations and international and regional organizations, while firmly upholding Sudan’s sovereignty and unity. The government statement also welcomed the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and reiterated that the government extends a “white hand” to all those genuinely seeking real peace. In a clear signal of the continuation of the war, the government concluded its statement with the words: “Long live Sudan, proud and strong… Victory comes only from Allah.” In my personal assessment, this statement confirms that the Sudanese government will not accept “partial ceasefires” without the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces militia, making peace unlikely without stronger mediation and a shift in the position of the Trump administration and the Quad Committee.
