@Riddwane Those guys at Arise just want every opportunity to talk down on a country that has given them all the freedom to thrive. They’ve experienced this same thing abroad. They smile at the officers. But in Nigeria everyone becomes stupid just to look anti government.

My biggest brother visiting Nigeria from Denmark in January, did not have one of his luggage arrive with him, he got it the next day and realized that 4 powerbanks were removed from the airport in Denmark. A note was left in the bag to that effect.

This happened to me on my route from France to Nigeria. I had my company seal in my hand bag. My luggage was flagged and my bag was manually searched. So , I agree with you.

Very silly analysis from Arise. My bag was manually searched recently while transiting schipol airport because I had water inside. “Some” Nigerians always talk down on Nigeria even “when it’s unnecessary” to do so, CAN NEVER BE ME.

@Riddwane That’s how it’s being done all the world. It was done to me at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. Very useless TV Station and an Anti- Nigeria Television station. It’s a shame on them all

A lot of people don’t know why manual searches happen, our bags were searched when we arrived in China and our powerbanks were taken out because of fire hazard. It was flagged when we put it in the machine. We didn’t get it back because it didn’t meet their safety standards. It wasn’t only us, a lot of other foreigners including westerners had their bags searched too and we were all patted own including westerners.

The lady in the clip was complaining about her tinned milk… There’s restrictions on carrying liquids/dairy products across borders.

She was travelling within Nigeria, and the bag was for check-in.

But they leave leaflets saying it was searched. Your explanation is very valid.

Some don't o. It has happened to me. Had to go back to confirm.

Just this week alone, my bags were manually searched in two airports in Europe. They brought our creams & tin powder peak milk out for inspection. If machines detect something, the next step is to search manually. I don't understand the issue in this.

Rufai abundantly dull, Orji another lady that outsource her brain for beauty, there is manual search ANY where in the world either for checked in luggage or carry-on. The machine/scanner prompts the check

Quite embarrassing that supposed professionals would say such thing - live on TV. Even in International Airports in European countries where they have all manner of sophisticated equipment and dogs, they do manual search when they system picks up anything suspicious.

Manual baggage scan is not a problem, it is the confiscation of legally approved travel items in an attempt to extort that is an issue that must be addressed across board and at Osubi Airport. Baggages get manually checked every where in the world if there's a reasonable suspicion that unapproved item is in the luggage.

My video is a direct response to what the journalists suggested. I clearly stated in the video that the issue of those items is a separate matter. The officers have a right to search manually if they suspect anything. The lady should have been allowed to fly with her items since they were check in and not prohibited items. I clearly stated that I was in communication with the passenger.

I know. I am simply highlighting those issues, not antagonizing your submission. Manual search is very normal and anybody that is not carrying any contraband need not worry about it.

It is good that you made some clarifications about the issues at hand but the communication would have been clear and complete if you had told us categorically that the items discovered during the manual search were prohibited items triggered off by the scanner. Some of us must have watched how Boarder control agents at those international airports you mentioned communicate clearly to the passengers about their search and discoveries of prohibited items. The Boarder agents do cite regulations prohibiting those items, they also instantly inform the passenger on the sanction Rufai was right about the state of the system. Context matters in communication. Until and when you and the security operatives in question at that airport certified that those items are prohibited and flagged by the scanner, that is when the public will believe your counter argument. There is an urgent need for a strategic public communication/customer service training for the security operatives at our airports. That incident was a dent on the corporate image of our aviation industry. we can do better. Nigeria will win.

You are overfantasizing, boss. You need to read the abroad experiences of others in the comments section. I travel, too. I agree with you that officers should train and retrain. The items in the lady's bag were not prohibited items. She should have been allowed to fly with them.

I have been manually searched at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The officer opened my bag and searched it with his hand, because I my Christmas light into my Shoes that were in the bag(I didn't want the bulbs to break) It was raining heavily when I was leaving Iceland. I wearing a tight, leggings and a jean. A tee shirt a sweater and a jacket. I was layering for the cold but they thought I was hiding something. The officer didn't only pat my body. He did a swap on my finger and belt My boss had braids on, the officer in Beijing Capital international Airport (PEK) inserted her hands into her head to check if something was hidden in her braids Manual search happen in airports around the world If machine can detect everything why are sniffer dogs use? By God's grace, am widely traveled. I just laughed at the ignorance of Rufai. The scanner reveals, d hand does d picking. Thats the rule.Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris is one of the most advanced airports globally. After scanning me, they searched my bag& took a peefume out.

My sister works at that airport with one of the airlines. She was in Lagos last week and I asked her and she said the girls was just being dramatic, that manual searches are done at the Osubi airport where needed

Even in the US and Canada, they sometimes manually inspect your luggage.

I was manually searched at the heathrow airport, I even removed my belt and everything in my pocket including cash before passing through th scanner. Arisetv is full of charlatans

A manual search is only conducted when the scanner pick up unapproved items in the luggage, the manual search is not the primary method, let’s get this facts right
