In Venice, I stood in front of a marble tablet carved hundreds of years ago that laid out exactly how bread had to be made in this city. They put it in stone because whoever made it understood that if you did not hold the line on something as basic as bread, you would eventually end up with Wonder Bread. They were right. We did. Nabisco and General Mills are not going to love this idea. That is the whole point. We need to get back to marble bread recipes.

A group of Russian artillerymen have been reassigned to infantry because they ran out of ammunition. They fled the battlefield because they were being sent to assault without proper training. Anti-retreat units are behind them, they say. As many others before them, they lay their woes in front of the mighty tsar (or maybe some local tsars). While they were artillerymen, it was ok for these soldiers to kill Ukrainians. Now, they fear for their lives.

You and your family finally get some time to go spend the day doing something fun. While waiting in line you notice some teenagers that decided that they were too entitled to wait in the line, they slip through the bars and decide to cut everyone else who has been patiently waiting for their turn. This example turned out well because right before they got to the front, they were caught and kicked out of the park. Do you think that was appropriate or do you think since they are still kids, they should just have gotten a warning?

Months of heatwaves have left the Danube River at a critically low level, revealing Nazi warships, ancient animal fossils and other relics of history. In Serbia, at least 20 German ships that were intentionally scuttled during the war can be seen from the banks of Prahovo, a village located on the river. While some of the ships had been previously removed by the Communist Yugoslav authorities, many remained due to the dangerous explosives onboard. And in Bulgaria, some residents discovered the bones of a woolly mammoth. The animals coexisted with ancient humans and were hunted for food, tusks and bones before they went extinct.
