Can someone enumerate the ways in which Andreesen has made the world "fundamentally better"?

Doesn't this essentially ignore thousands of years of religion, philosophy, art, and literature? Like, where did Sam Walton's IDEA for Walmart come from if it wasn't Walton thinking about the thoughts, feelings and motives of others? Walmart wouldn't exist without it

the biggest challenge is somehow lowering the risk especially for people with families. Something like <10% of companies make it to $1M and 90% of all startups fail.. so when you are staring at the need to take care of family with a 9 out of 10 chance of not being able too.. it is a risk that weighs on you..

There are lots of start-ups out there. More every day. What the world needs is art - real art. Not found art. Not AI art. Not glorified graphic design. Real art. Expressions of the beauty in the human soul. No ugly post-modern trash. Develop our own Bach, Shakespeare, Rembrandt.

The irony: AI may be the first genuinely non-stagnant technology in decades. Compute costs halving every 12-18 months, capabilities compounding faster than adoption. If anything breaks the stagnation thesis, it's what we're building now — software that writes software, science that runs itself.

As always, @FoundersPodcast (David Senra), with his newer, self-titled podcast, David Senra, has released an absolutely stunning and thought-provoking episode with Marc Andreessen. I normally listen to all of David’s podcasts at 2x speed because that is how I most effectively consume the incredible information being shared. Marc’s podcast is the ONLY podcast, out of all 450 or so podcasts David has done, that I had to slow down to 1.5x. Marc naturally just thinks and speaks at 2x speed faster than all of us and his thoughts are brilliant and well worth the listen! On a related note: if EVERY single Founder out there is not consuming David’s approximate 2 podcasts he puts out per week, every single week, you are MEANINGFULLY holding back your potential. I discovered David over 2 years ago and it’s the only 2 podcast episodes I listen to religiously, every single week (and I have listened to all of his episodes AT LEAST two or three times and learn something new every time). It has transformed the businesses I am a part of and my thinking entirely. As David has mentioned a few times in his podcasts, even John Mackey (@iamjohnmackey), Founder of Whole Foods, said, had David’s podcast been around when he was running the company, Whole Foods would still be an independent company. As a voracious reader myself, and as I’ve told every single fellow Founder and all of my colleagues, for books, “The Everything Store” by Brad Stone about Jeff Bezos and Amazon, is by far, the most value per page of any book I’ve read. David’s podcasts (@FoundersPodcast and The David Senra Podcast) are by far, the most value per minute listened of all of the podcasts I have ever consumed. I’m very thankful David continues to do what he does every week. It’s extremely hard work and it is greatly appreciated.

The central issue is not that people don't "want to try." The central issue is that trying without the certainty of success is a virtue, something that Western society insists on denying. Virtue is the source of all things that can make society evolve.

The idea that the next few years depends on the few people willing to build without permission is a massive wake-up call. Stagnation is a choice. We don't need more licenses, we just need more people willing to actually give it a shot and build the future.

The American education system is designed to create tax paying, indebted workers who stay in bounds, ask permission, and do what they’re told. the thought trap can be broken.

cuz most people would rather complain about the system than RISK becoming the villain who changes it. machiavelli knew: everyone wants reform, nobody wants to be the reformer. too much skin in the game.

I don’t claim to be such a person, but this timeless mission resonates deeply. There needs to be more emphasis on how isolating and heart breaking it can be to be possessed by such a mind though, especially if you come from a broken family or worse, broken society, where you don’t have community, you don’t have role models. In some cases, you may have transnational gangs targeting you for daring to believe in progress, daring to dream. Maybe this is just what nature demands in its infinite wisdom. Maybe tortured souls are needed for progress. Maybe suffering is just the price to be paid.

Would love to have more people taking the shot
