We think it would be good for Russia if that war came to an end. The US remains open and willing to play a constructive role in bringing that war to an end if that opportunity presents itself. I would say that this is an example of why this war... President Trump thinks it needs to end. Wars generally will escalate. They'll actually get worse, not better, if they continue on the track they're on, especially a protracted war like this one where both sides are deeply dug in. I don’t trust Putin, and he doesn’t trust us, but both sides can trust that we *do* act in our self-interest. We can end the war in Ukraine by freezing the current lines of control & committing to keep Ukraine out of NATO in return for dissolving the China-Russia military alliance. The real threat is the China-Russia alliance which we worsen every day by driving Russia further into China’s hands, yet no one is talking about it. Together, they outmatch the U.S. in every area of great power competition: geographic footprint, economic potential, industrial manufacturing might, conventional military power + nuclear weapons. The US has fulfilled our commitments in Ukraine. Put America First. End the war in Ukraine by negotiating peace with Putin in return for Russia exiting its alliance with China.
