Lately, it's become a trend to talk about Carlos as if he only started learning to play tennis well (for some, even to be educated) at 15. As if one coach is the only responsible for his success and for who he is in every aspect. Meanwhile, this was Carlos at age 10 in Murcia. One can acknowledge the work of a coach and give him credit without diminishing the player, who is the one holding the racket and coming back in historic 5: 30 hours finals, as if he didn't exist or have anything to do with his own success or who he is. A world number one, the youngest in history, isn't solely the work of a coach. Is also the work of his family, all his team and people, but above all, it's HIS OWN WORK, his talent, his commitment to his dream, and his constant sacrifice since childhood. Even if every now and then he has the audacity to need to rest for a few days with his friends or family.

“It's weird, I don't feel like there's only 11 players in the world better than me.” I find Sahith Theegala’s outlook on himself and professional golf fascinating. I remember asking him last year about his world ranking and he immediately said “I’m not. I’m overrated. You’re telling me there’s only 28 guys better than me? No way.” Today, after he shot 65 at the PGA Championship, I asked him if he’s starting to feel like the No. 12 player in the world. Same answer. There is no one “right” attitude in this sport. What works for Brooks doesn’t work for Scottie, and what works for Scottie doesn’t work for Bryson. It’s extremely rare, however, to find a guy as humble and realistic as Sahith. There was a time when he felt like those guys, back when he carried his own bag at Pepperdine and swept the national player of the year awards. But this is a step up in competition, and he knows it, and he’s not sure he’ll ever have that feeling again, but he’s going to give everything he has to get there. Easy guy to root for.

If they had actually listened to him, his time at Manchester United might have ended very differently. You really can't blame him, especially considering it wasn't right for Ronaldo to return to the EPL and play for a rival club. I’ve been watching two specific kids Ole mentioned: Antonio Nusa and Andreas Schjelderup. I really hope the board looks into them. Either one would fit perfectly into Michael Carrick’s system because we desperately need natural wingers. Matheus Cunha isn't a true winger, neither is Patrick Dorgu, and Rashford isn't getting any younger. Carrick needs to compete next season, and adding a proper, natural winger would make our attack so much smoother. Between Andreas Schjelderup and Antonio Nusa, which winger do you want Manchester United to buy as a Rashford replacement?

In a chat for Skratch and the pod he said they would come back with “no status whatsoever” and get in line “behind the Tour School and you start at the bottom of the barrel.” “Or better yet send them to Korn Ferry Tour.” For them “to leave and just come back and play at any point is just wrong. Totally against that…I think that’s a terrible idea to let the guys who were not loyal to the PGA Tour leave and just walk back with nothing but a slap on the wrist, and then a let’s go boys. Then ask yourself this: Was the level of 'want' really the difference why one player made the play and the other didn't?! Or did one of those players plan better, jump higher, use better technique, see more clearly, and build better skill? Did he want it more in the moment or did he prepare a little better and when that moment arrived he performed a little better? You think that the other player didn't want it? Didn't want to make the play? Was the difference between those two athletes their level of want?! No way. It wasn't want. It was work! Getting in shape requires consistent workouts, not frequent want-outs. You earn in alignment with the quality of your work, not the quality of your want. You can build a life on a work ethic but you can't build anything on a want ethic. Working hard is studying, prepping, reps, reflection, feedback, and responsibility for the results that you produce. It's late nights and early mornings. It's uncommon effort and it's choosing to push harder when you could relax. Wanting hard? Well, that's what everyone else does. Everything is training for something. Do the work.”
