PCA on the Cubs' back-to-back series wins: "I'm not gonna buy into that yet, I want to keep stacking (wins). I think what I'm happiest about is coming out after a loss and getting a W the next day. I think that's what was really consistent about this team last year and really strong and important."

"It's hard to win a big-league game. It always has been. Right now, it hasn't gone our way. If we had a magical way to win every single game, we would definitely be doing it. I think that at the end of the day, everybody in here has enough talent to get a win tomorrow and that's how we're going to approach tomorrow." - Marcus Semien

Tom Kim was second group off in the final round of the Cognizant. He said he spent all day thinking about Jupiter Links' TGL match that night. "I woke up at 4:30, so I've been up for almost 20 something hours. But my 18 holes today was preparation for tonight. That's all I focused on. I'm serious, I promise you. "It was a long day, but gosh, the whole round I was just thinking about the match tonight and how it's going to be and how I wanted to play and how the prep was going to go."

Joe Burrow shares a masterclass on habits and how he thinks about goals. "The way I think about day-to-day goals now is just do whatever you need to do to get better that day." "If you do that, you'll reach your mountain goals - the headline goals that you want to reach." It sounds simple. That doesn't mean it's easy. Listen to this example: "I caught myself the other day in practice. I was like, 'It's hot. I'm tired. It's a long practice today. It's a Sunday. Everybody else is sleeping.'" "And then I snapped myself out of it. I was like, 'Wake the f*** up, Joe. It's time to get better.'" That's the difference. The greats catch themselves before the excuses take over. "Each rep throughout the day is unique and you learn so much from it. "All you got to do is just embrace that and get better every day and you'll get to where you want to get to." It means show up and do the work. Your goal is to win the day. And then stack the days. (🎥Pivot Podcast)

"I'm seeing too many white people taking off work today for Labor day, and I don't think any white people should be taking off today. What about the 400 years of free labor y'all got off my ancestors and black people? Didn't give them a day off. Cotton field every day. Cooking every day. Slaving every day. What about the reparations y'all owe us? Y'all need to be working every day to get the money to pay black people... If I see a white person out here lallygagging and chilling, I'm checking them."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on how it feels to be favourites: "It doesn't matter. Our friend is not here today with a supercomputer and all the stats that we normally have! I think it is what it is. "I think our supercomputer and what it has to drive us is, the standards daily to be able to, day by day, earn the right to position ourselves there in a really strong way and to play, to perform and to connect with our people in the manner that we want, and if that's the case, I'm sure we're going to be very close and then the destiny will decide what happens."

Pat Riley on retirement: “I think about mortality because Chris [Riley] and I are going over to Europe to get our blood scrubbed, get all these toxins out, and we're into longevity and health... trying to extend being vital and doing something that's meaningful. I don't think about retirement. I just think about the next day and what we're going to do. One day it will happen. One day I'll step aside.” (via The Dan Le Batard Show)

"It was close. So I'm not going to be disappointed about not getting the win at the end. I'm just happy. I'm just proud about myself, about how I fought.” After the third set, physically I was really tired, but I found a way to push myself up. In the fifth set I just started to feel better and better” “But I leave the court happy. I leave the court with a smile, healthy, and this is what I needed." 🥺🥺❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
