It's funny that this is now considered special or rare. From 85-09 whenever I was home I saw similar things all over the base. Everyone respected colors.

Right. That’s actually the saddest part.

I grew up on air force bases and this was normal and we made plans to be available during this time to pay respect. We also has the Pledge of Allegiance before any movie we saw on base.

"Marine kids during colors!" That's exactly what they're supposed to do. When I was in high school they played the Star Spangled Banner when they raised the flag every morning. Everyone stopped talking, turned & faced the flag until the anthem was complete. It's called respect.
