Tuskegee head men's basketball coach Benjy Taylor was handcuffed and escorted out of the gym following the Golden Tigers' loss to Morehouse Saturday. In a statement Taylor says "I am at a loss for words and I am upset about how I was violated and treated today. For my players, my family and people of Tuskegee to witness that is heartbreaking for me. I was simply trying to get the football team out of the handshake line as they were following right behind me and the team yelling obscenities! It was a very dangerous situation. A Tuskegee spokesperson tells me coach Taylor was particularly concerned about people without jerseys being on the court. Taylor did get on the bus with the team to return to Alabama following the game and incident. I've reached out to Morehouse to see if they have a statement as well. I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism of Coach Deion Sanders, Sheduer Sanders and Colorado. He called them irrelevant and that they don’t matter to College Football. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Colorado is very relevant and broke TV viewership records last year even after their 3-0 start that saw them finish the year 4-8. They out drew some of the biggest brands in all of College Football last year. Their blowout loss to Oregon had 10.03 million viewers, which topped the Notre Dame-Ohio State game. Shedeur Sanders stated that Colorado is everyone’s Super Bowl game when they play them. HE IS CORRECT, if you take the time to understand what he meant. Every team that played Colorado last year played their hardest against them because they knew everyone was watching and it was their opportunity to shine in front of the masses. It wasn’t JUST ABOUT winning, they wanted to humiliate them and kill their confidence. It pains many that Coach Prime, his sons, Travis Hunter, his coaches and all his players are still walking in their purpose and have never wavered for a second. They know the mission they are on and won’t back down in the face of adversity. Colorado wasn’t an “Easy win” last year for anyone except Oregon and Washington State. 5 of their 8 losses were by one score or less. Colorado making the College Football Playoff AT SOME POINT in Deion Sanders’ tenure would be a great thing for College Football. Not just for the increased viewership, but because taking a program that last won a Conference Championship when Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter weren’t even born yet would be an incredible accomplishment and rebuild. Colorado doesn’t have to go to the College Football Playoff this year and will still be relevant. Teams will be jumping out of their skin to get after them a little extra because they think they are too confident. Coaches will up the passion because they believe they deserve the attention and eyeballs that Coach Prime and Colorado demand. Like Coach Prime said, he is analyzed different and his wins are measured differently. One thing is for sure though. Coach Prime is building something at Colorado and as an analyst, I don’t think we should be trying kick him and his team down because they are confident and believe in themselves. They are great for College Football because they are different. Different might make people uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. 🏈 🔥 WATCH all the way through the end of this video to see spirited high school football players at South County High School exercise their civic duty to speak up for celebrated football coach Gerry Pannoni, who just lost his coaching job in a case of alleged retaliation in Fairfax County Public Schools. What’s more: FCPS allegedly shut down the South County football program and let go ALL of the coaches until a new coach is named and removed access to coach access to Hudl, a video platform, hurting students who are being recruited by colleges. In June 2024, I began reporting a local high school story for the Fairfax County Times Pearl Project with sports reporter G, and it became Virginia’s biggest youth sports scandal: controversial recruiting practices at Hayfield Secondary School in Fairfax County Virginia that led to a wider community reckoning on the issue of integrity in sports and calls for the resignation of fcpssupt Michelle Reid for her mishandling of the case. Today, at South County High School in Lorton, Va., about 300 football players, athletes and students streamed out of Door No. 1 at 2 PM to march on Laurel Crest Drive, shouting, “Reinstate Coach P.” Last year, Pannoni and other coaches raised red flags about alleged recruitment problems at Hayfield, and the school district official told coach Pannoni on Friday that he had lost his job. Parents and coaches say they are hearing that Reid is allegedly planning to retaliate against all the coaches for embarrassing her. FCPS denies the charge. FCPS sent a media relations officer to follow the march. He sat in the back of an FCPS security cruiser. FCPS Superintendent Reid investigated Pannoni for an audio tape with parents, indelicately describing the Hayfield recruiting as akin to “grooming.” We have learned that the principal had allegedly told Pannoni that students didn’t feel “safe”around the coach. The students I interviewed reveal a different story: speaking about Pannoni’s positive impact on their lives. “We love Coach Pannoni,” said many a student. I was going to hold off until Easter week to play this song which was recorded by my beautiful wife. But with the relentless attacks on Christianity by the same demons who promote Eid while trying to cancel Easter l said I would put It out today. So many people who heard this last year were overcome with such emotion that it moved them to tears. Me included. Laurie's voice is a gift from God which she in turn uses to praise Him & continue His message. I owe absolutely everything to Him which is why l will be eternally grateful for His sacrifice & all the good He brought to my life particularly my wife, Our precious children & my beloved family & friends. I am also thankful for every trial & tribulation He sent to test me because it has truly made me the man that l am today. I feel that He chose certain people for this battle who carry invisible scars from what life has thrown at them but kept getting back up each & every time they were knocked down because quitting was & is never an option. I have not a shred of embarrassment speaking about Christ & my love for Him so openly. This world is in the satanic state that it's in because so so many turned away from God & accepted the Devil in countless materialistic & debaucherous forms. When you turn back to Him & truly accept Him as your Lord & Saviour it is such a happier & fulfilling life that there are no words to express the love that fills your heart & the spirit that uplifts your very soul. I am strengthened & fortified because of His blood which was spilled for all of our salvation & because of this l FEAR NO MAN OR DEVIL IN HELL. Some people are so poor all they have is money. I am truly rich because God chose to bless me with an incredible wife & beautiful children who l live & breathe for. They are my whole world & there's absolutely nothing I wouldn't do to protect them & keep them Safe. Family is everything in this life. TRUE BRAVERY IS FOLLOWING CHRIST IN A WORLD THAT HATES HIM. During his tenure coaching Alabama Men’s Basketball, Winfrey “Wimp” Sanderson entertained fans with a scowl that intimidated the most veteran officials all while donned in his trademark plaid sportscoat. Today the coach, who made plaid as engrained with Alabama basketball as houndstooth is with Alabama football, celebrates another birthday. And while Wimp Sanderson declined offering his actual age, he provided this point of reference instead. “You could take two SEC coaches, add their ages together and I’m still older,” Sanderson joked earlier this week. However, these last few months have been some of the most difficult in his life with the passing of his beloved wife, Annette, earlier this spring. The high school sweethearts had been married for 67 years, and she traveled with him on a coaching adventure that started in Carbon Hill and ended in Little Rock, Ark. Perhaps the biggest tribute to Sanderson’s career is the number of former players and staff that returned for the funeral services of Annette in early May. After settling in Birmingham following his retirement from coaching, Sanderson made the decision to move one more time this past summer and returned to Tuscaloosa to be closer to his youngest son, Barry, and his family. The two still produce and host their radio show “Inside the Locker Room” on Tide 100.9 FM | WTBC 1230 AM every weekday morning from 7 – 9 a.m. Sanderson coached one year at Carbon Hill High School then joined Hayden Riley’s staff at Alabama in 1960. He remained an assistant for Riley and later C.M. Newton, before being named the 16th Alabama head coach in 1980. During his 12-year run when Coleman Coliseum became known as the “Plaid Palace,” the Crimson Tide won five SEC Tournament championships, one SEC regular-season championship and reached the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament six times. His legacy is renewed every season when the “Crimson Chaos” president is sworn in and bestowed a plaid sportscoat.

19 years ago, a high school basketball coach put his team manager into a game for the final four minutes. The kid had never played a single minute of competitive basketball in his life. He scored 20 points. Jason McElwain was diagnosed with severe autism at age two. He didn’t speak until he was five. He couldn’t chew solid food until he was six. He wore a nappy for most of his early childhood. As a baby, he was rigid, wouldn’t make eye contact, and hid in corners away from other children. He tried out for his school basketball team every year and got cut every time. Too small. Too slight. Barely 5’6 and about 54 kilograms. But he loved the game so much that his mum called the school and asked if there was any way he could be involved. The coach created a team manager role for him. For three years, McElwain showed up to every practice and every game. He wore a shirt and tie on match days. He ran drills, handed out water, kept stats, and cheered every basket like he’d scored it himself. On 15 February 2006, the last home game of his final school year, the coach let him suit up in a proper jersey and sit on the bench. With four minutes left and a comfortable lead, the coach sent him in. His first shot missed. His second missed. Then something shifted. He hit a three-pointer. Then another. Then another. His teammates stopped shooting entirely and just kept passing him the ball. He hit six three-pointers and a two-pointer. 20 points in four minutes. The highest scorer in the game. When the final buzzer went, the entire crowd rushed the court and lifted him onto their shoulders. His mum tapped the coach on the shoulder, in tears. “This is the nicest gift you could have ever given my son.” McElwain won the ESPY Award for Best Moment in Sports that year, beating out some of the biggest names in professional sport. He’s 36 now. He works at a local supermarket, coaches basketball, has run 17 marathons including five Boston Marathons, and travels the country speaking about never giving up. When asked about that night, his coach still gets emotional. “For him to come in and seize the moment like he did was certainly more than I ever expected. I was an emotional wreck.”

Death, where is your shame? We laid my mother -Mai Wadzanai to rest this afternoon next to my sister Wadzani under the wings of savanna trees at Nyamadzawo Homestead, located at at the foot of Chengenga hill in Domboshava. I don’t know about the land and times beyond death but I would like to believe that sooner or later she will join and have the company of my grandmother -Mbuya VaNancy who passed away less than two weeks ago. They will pair together and keep each other company as they journey beyond the land of the mortals. I have gone through a lot this year, As some of you might be aware I had a near death experience when a friend and myself were abducted in Durban, South Africa and got released after they took a large sum of money from us and everything we got. Ever since then I have had a series of setbacks. It is by the grace of God that I am still standing. I want to thank everyone who is standing with me in these difficult moments. For the first time in my life I have scheduled an appointment with a therapist so that I get counseling and hear how best can I take care of my mental health. As I go through grief and mourning I want to take time to reflect on all the lessons I got from my mother. I will remember and cherish her kindness. She is the most selfless person I have ever met. Most here know, some don't. In late 2012, during my senior year at Oregon, I'd become so heavily inspired by the Seattle Seahawks' ascent under Pete Carroll and now legendary Legion of Boom that I decided I'd begin teaching myself how to edit video and telling their story. It marked the beginning of a long-form, fan-made series that I dedicated the next four years to, driven by a lofty dream of someday working in the NFL. Since that day, I've been extremely fortunate to experience many full-circle moments, including the opportunity to work with Pete Carroll and most recently, the Houston Texans. A few weeks ago, I experienced yet another. Up in Seattle, there's a feeling that we're often overlooked and disrespected by the sports world. For many years, Richard Sherman was our voice. He embodied the passion, energy and spirit of the fan base in Seattle. Beyond that, he played a major part in inspiring me to document their story and begin pursuing a career in pro sports in the first place. 🕯️Remembering Michael Coleman, R.I.P 🕯️ Galway GAA are deeply saddened at the sudden and untimely passing of the former Galway Hurling Captain Michael Coleman of the Abbeyknockmoy HC Club. Michael represented Galway with distinction at Minor, Intermediate and Senior levels. He won an All-Ireland Under 21 Hurling title with Galway in 1983. He went on to play a starring role at midfield when Galway retained the All-Ireland Senior title against Tipperary in 1988. In an Intercounty career spanning over 10 years, Michael also won three National League Titles including captaining the winning Galway team in 1996. His contribution on the National stage was recognised by his selection on three All-Star hurling teams in 1989, 1990 and 1995. Michael also represented University College Galway in the Fitzgibbon Cup as well as being the star of the St. Jarlath's College team that narrowly lost the Connacht Senior B Post Primary Hurling Final in 1981. Michael took great pride in his club and was an important part of the Abbeyknockmoy team which won the Galway Senior Hurling Championship in 1988. When his playing days were over his commitment to the club was unwavering: serving as mentor, coach and officer over the years. Michael was also active within Báireoirí Na Gaillimhe, a group consisting of former Galway hurlers. Michael was coach with the Leitrim Senior Hurlers when they claimed the Lory Meagher Cup in 2019. Outside of the GAA, Michael was a committed community activist involving himself in many activities within the locality. He will be sorely missed by the Galway GAA community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his wife Mary, daughter Sinead and son Dara, his extended family, the Abbeyknockmoy Hurling club and community at this incredibly difficult time. After six unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye. Manchester City has been so much more than just a football club to me, it has been my home. On this day, 41 years ago, Peter Weir's "Witness" (1985) starring Harrison Ford & Kelly McGillis was released in the USA. Originally, there were 2 pages of dialogue for the final scene in 'Witness' (1985), but Peter Weir cut it, despite the insistence of the studio: "I got into a tricky spot with my first American film 'Witness' (1985). At the end of that movie, the police detective played by Harrison Ford is leaving the farm to go back to his life in Philadelphia and he goes to say goodbye to the Amish woman. Their romance is clearly not going to go anywhere. You see him driving away and passing the Amish man coming down the hill and you realize that she is going to have a life with him. Originally there were two pages of dialogue in which Harrison explained why he was leaving and she gave her feelings to him. It was very literal, and I cut it all because we didn’t need it. The producer told me that the studio would never accept it because we need to know what they are feeling. I knew that if I had done my job properly, you would know exactly how they were feeling by the time it was all cut together. They just look at each other. It’s hopeless, it’s beyond words. The executive from the studio, Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was at Paramount at the time, flew out to talk to me and suggested I shoot it both ways just in case. That seemed a waste of time to me so Jeff asked me to paint a picture in words for him and tell it like a story. So, over coffee in this restaurant in Lancaster Pennsylvania, I told him.
