How about we go back to the per diem pay for Congress and the Senate, no more life long taxpayer funded pensions, life long healthcare, being a respresentative was never meant to be a full time job paid by the taxpayers!! They’ve all became oligarchs funded by the taxpayers!

That's how it's supposed to be in the first place when the government was setup. It started when the Past President Act 1958 was passed, which 4 living past Presidents are abusing as well. After Congress passed it, they then passed bills for themselves, and let's not forget insider trading.

Back in the day congress and the senate got paid per diem. If they weren’t working in the peoples house they didnt get paid to go fund raise in their home state.

This needs to be included on the ballot presented to US citizen voters. Congress has already proven that they represent themselves, not their constituents.

NOBODY in top leadership positions from the WH to every department, branch, and especially Congress, of our govt should be paid during government shutdown, so that money can be used to keep these other much needed services up and running.

Trump needs to sign an executive order to stop the senators pay when govt shuts down also order them to conference lasting as long as necessary till resolved! Because, unfortunately, no senators would agree to pass a law like this.

Holding soldiers, federal police, and air traffic controllers hostage as political bargaining chips is not what the people want or need. If Congress cannot pass a balanced budget or use shutdowns as blackmail, their paychecks need to stop immediately.

Only problem there is their salary is a tiny portion of their income. The kickbacks and insider trading continue.

💯% correct. Great ideas. Except, I’d go with if the politicians shut it down NO SALARY and NO RETROACTIVE PAY from the minute the government shuts down until they re-open it. No grace period. They’ve had all that time to work on things and don’t work full days and take off early for weekends/vacations. They work for the people. They are not the BOSS.
